Weekend of October 29+30

Let's fill those Thanksgiving bags!

It’s time for the Union Gospel Mission Thanksgiving bag drive again! This year our goal is 550 bags! Grab a shopping list at the Impact Table starting this weekend. Take your family shopping and use this list to buy the ingredients to help a family in need have a warm Thanksgiving meal. Use any bag for shopping this year. Please return filled bags to Five Oaks by November 13.

Students: Rev up for the UGM Thanksgiving Bag Drive!
Student Ministries will partner with Five Oaks and the Union Gospel Mission to provide Thanksgiving dinners, through donations of food and finances, to local families in need. Our goal is to fill 75 bags as part of Five Oaks’ bigger goal of 550 bags.  Students, please bring all food or financial donations on or before Wednesday, November 16. Shopping lists are available at the Impact Ministry Cart this weekend.

Fall Fun Fest next weekend — we still need some help!
Less than a week remains until our crazy fun carnival-style evening of Minute-to-Win- It, cake walk, donut on a rope, face painting, and more. We still need volunteers to help run the various stations for part of the evening. If you or your middle or high school students are available to help serve for one of the two shifts, please  email Pam Hawley, phawley@fiveoakschurch.org. November 4, 6:30-9 pm.

Dorothy Day serving opportunity November 5
Saturday, November 5, is a great chance for you and/or your family to be the hands of Jesus by signing up to help prepare and serve a meal at the Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul.  Volunteers aged 13 and up are welcome! Time: 9:30-1:15. Write “Dorothy Day” and your email address on your Communication Card at church this weekend, or  email dorothyday@fiveoakschurch.org.  You must sign up and get a confirmation for this event.

November Book Club: The Pilgrim
Do you love to read? Join our Five Oaks book club for a chance to read some great books and partake in thought-provoking discussions! In November we will read The Pilgrim by Davis Bunn. Thanks & Praise — A night of worship
Join us Friday, November 11, for Thanks & Praise — A Night of Worship. Take a break from your hectic schedule and usher in your weekend with a time of worship and fellowship, led by our worship band at Five Oaks. Make plans now to share this evening with your small group — a great way to fellowship together. Acorn Cafe will be open for hot drinks. 7:30 pm; childcare not provided.

Almost time to deck these halls
Help us transform the Commons and Worship Center of Five Oaks for the Advent season. We need 20-25 volunteers to help decorate our church for Christmas. Consider inviting your small group to serve together in decorating! We’ll have some seasonal treats to boot. Sunday, November 13, 1 pm till we finish.  Please  email Harold Ennulat, hennulat@fiveoakschurch.org, with any questions or if you are interested in signing up to help.
