The most free fun your family will have this fall

“That was the best night of my life!” Not always what we hear from our kids as they leave church, but these words are from a thrilled child as she left Fall Fun Fest last year.  Fall Fun Fest might just be the craziest night of the year at Five Oaks Church. More than 400 kids & their adults come out to carve pumpkins, play games, and be the fastest to eat a Donut on a Rope. Invite your neighbors, co-workers, teammates, and classmates! Friday, October 27, 6:30-9 pm. And, by the way….it’s all free.

In order to pull off this high-impact event, we need your help! If you are willing to donate treats (homemade or otherwise), help set-up, help supervise a station, clean up after the event, etc. please click the button below to sign up. All of the kids in our church, and their favorite neighbor friends, THANK YOU for your time!

Kids Hope USA: Making a difference in Woodbury
A KHUSA mentor offers one hour each week to one Woodbury Elementary student in need of emotional, social, and academic support beyond what s/he normally receives in the classroom and at home. Stories from staff and parents offer common themes of improved attitude, focus, performance, and relationships from mentored students.  One hour from you each week can change the trajectory of a student’s life right here in our community! For more info, please write “KHUSA” and your email on your Communication Card, or visit the Ministry Cart in the Commons this weekend. At least 10 kids are currently on a waiting list at Woodbury Elementary!

Are you new to Five Oaks?
Come check out our all-new Explore Five Oaks class on October 15 at 11 am. This class offers the chance to learn who we are as a church & what we believe, plus connect with other newcomers. Pizza lunch included following the class, plus an opportunity to meet with staff. Please register at fiveoaks.church/explore.

Are you serving?
Serving is just one way to show God’s love to those around you. The best kind of serving role is one that energizes you, as then the light of Christ in you is contagious to those being served. We have several serving areas here at Five Oaks that would benefit from your help: behind the scenes roles, meet-and-greet type roles, teaching roles, music roles, even artistry roles. Check out the Serve brochure accompanying today’s Worship Guide to learn more. You may also get more info at the Ministry Carts in the Commons, or email our Connections Director, Jennifer Clemens, at jclemens@fiveoakschurch.org.

A “big” church can become church family
As a church, we see that God designed us to do life together. And the best way to do that is through our small groups. We have groups meeting every day of the week, in every stage of life, as well as men’s groups and women’s groups. Many who participate in small groups find that their small group becomes their church family. To learn more and find a small group that fits with your schedule and stage of life, visit the Ministry Cart in the Commons this weekend. You can also access more info at www.fiveoaks.church/smallgroups.

Missionary prayer meeting October 15
Please join us as we gather to pray for the 14 Five Oaks-supported missionaries, their families and their ministries. October 15, room 101. 10:15-11 am. Bonus: treats will be served! We’d love to have your prayer support for these global partners!

Are you a lighting guy? A sound gal?
Our Worship Arts Team is looking for more volunteers in their tech roles. Help us present our weekend worship services so the sermon and music are as worshipful as possible. Several types of positions available. We’ll train you for your chosen role, after which a volunteer or staff person will sit with you until you’re ready. More info available at the Ministry Cart this weekend. You may also email Harold Ennulat, hennulat@fiveoakschurch.org, with questions.

Fall Story of God classes: registrations in full swing
Learn how the Bible fits together to tell one story & discover a relational approached to spiritual growth. Connect with others in a cohort, and ask tough questions. This class is a six-week series of 1-hour cohort meetings, plus daily reading and homework. Several classes starting this fall. Go to storyofgod.church to learn more & register.

The Retreat needs your help
We are still looking for help in the Retreat, our ministry for differently-abled children in our church family. This ministry blesses many children in our church with different physical and learning challenges, and it blesses their parents by allowing them to worship each week with great peace of mind. If you are able to volunteer even once each month at our 9 am service, please contact Laura at retreat@fiveoakschurch.org.

Are you a pro golfer? An amazing chef?
This October in Five Oaks Students we will be holding our Student Challenge Silent Auction. At the Challenge Conference students will get the opportunity to learn and hear from amazing speakers, worship with talented worship artists, hang out with each other and their leader, serve the community, and spend time learning about and connecting with Jesus. In order to make this trip happen, we hold the Student Challenge Silent Auction. This year we are seeking donations for the auction. These donations can include stays at cabins, sport team tickets, hotel stays, auto/home repairs, unique experiences like fishing, activities for families, electronics, etc. We would also like to partner with our local Five Oaks businesses to include in the silent auction. If you have an item you would like to donate please email Martha at myoung@fiveoakschurch.org. We appreciate your support!

Save the date: annual congregational meeting
Sunday, November 19 is our annual congregational meeting. This short business meeting offers the opportunity for some worship, ministry updates, and for members to vote on the budget. More details to come! Make plans now to join us!

Want to dig deeper into the sermon topic?
Our DailyLife devotions, written by our volunteer team of writers, correlates directly to the Gospel Project and to the sermon from the previous week. Plus these devotions will give you extra insight for your small group discussions.
