Weekend of April 21+22

Don't let a teensy blizzard stand between you and running that marathon

So you probably noticed that little snow event last weekend. Despite that springtime setback, we are pleased to announce that Team World Vision will be present at Five Oaks this weekend to share the vision of how our running the Twin Cities Marathon in October can help bring clean water to communities in Africa.

Many of our Five Oaks team members are first-time marathon runners. In fact, many decided to start running only because they saw how their training could directly impact families in Africa who must walk miles each day just to procure clean water.

If you are curious, slightly interested, or just looking for a good cause for your running efforts, join us for a short presentation and Q & A with a TWV staffer after any of our services this weekend. We’ll meet in the front rows of the Worship Center.

If you are unable to attend, please email Kevin Johnson or send him a message in Realm. You also will find more useful information at the ministry cart in the Commons this weekend.

Join us to pray with and for churches in China
The power of prayer is real.  Join us as we pray live and online with 3 other MN churches AND churches and field workers in China. Imagine the power of praying with other believers on the other side of the world, united in purpose and vision. We will gather at Five Oaks on April 28, 8:30 — 10 am, to pray for (and with) the Chinese Christian church and for the workers that God has commissioned to do his work in China.  See you in room 105!

Dorothy Day: help provide a warm meal
Most of us don’t worry about  where we’ll sleep at night or where our next meal will come from. Not everyone in our own Twin Cities community is that fortunate. This is an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus and help prepare and serve a meal at the Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul. Saturday, May 5, 8:30 am — 1:15 pm. Must be at least 13 years old. To register, please email dorothyday@fiveoakschurch.org, or message Tim and Cindy Wiant on Realm. You need to sign up and a  get a confirmation for this event.

All are welcome at the table; invite your friends and join us for a time of connection. May 2, 9:15 am — 11:30 am. Please click here to register.

Journeymen: How do you hear God’s voice?
Guys, how is God speaking into your life? Truth is we hear many voices from which we try to discern the ‘voice’ of God from the other voices that vie for our attention. Join with other men as we learn how to invite His input into daily routines and how to allow His input to direct our lives. Beginning April 21, at 7am, the Journeymen will take part in a 4-week video series by Bill Hybels that is drawn from his book The Power of a Whisper: Hearing God. Having the Guts to Respond. More information and a sign-up is available at jm5oaks.com.

Looking to serve as a family?
As parents, you want to model serving to your family.  We have a simple serve option that fits the bill.  We have openings at all three services for communion preparation.  The bread and juice are already prepared - we just need help with setup in the Worship Center.  Serve during regular worship times once a month.  For more information, please write “communion prep” and your email on your communication card.
