Backyard Baptism: don't miss our family party

Our Backyard Baptism is just a week away. This is a time of celebration in our church family as we praise God for who he is and how he claims us as his children. Join us as we walk with those who are being baptized in our backyard that morning!

To maximize the fun potential, you'll want to bring some items for our Baptism After-Party: lawn chairs and/or blankets, a picnic lunch (Five Oaks provides the beverages), sunscreen, and of course money for the ice cream truck that will stop by with treats for sale.

New this year -- Five Oaks will provide shade in our sunny backyard in the form of canopies. You may want to bring an extra umbrella in case space is short under the canopies. See you next Sunday, July 29, 10 am in the Five Oaks backyard!  Recall that this service will be our only one next weekend.

City Vision bus tour: less than a week away
Did you know that over 100 languages are spoken in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis? The City Vision bus tour wants to show you how the cities have changed and how the church is responding. Sign up for the Discover Your City Tour on July 28 to get a better understanding of our city. For more details and to sign up, find the event on Realm or write “Bus Tour” and your email on your communication card.

Students: meet us at Jerry’s Foods July 25
Middle and high schoolers, let’s meet at Jerry’s Foods for some games and a chance to catch up mid-summer! Bring a board game or card game and some money for Starbucks or Jerry’s snacks. Wednesday, July 25, 6-8 pm at Jerry’s Foods.  Questions? Please email John Eiselt, jeiselt@fiveoakschurch.org.

Are you a sound guy? A lighting gal? We need you this summer
If you have interest in the tech side of worship, summer is a great time to dabble in our weekend tech ministry.  Roles such as: live sound production & stage setups, media prep and presentations, video podcasting and/or  production, lighting setups, programming and operations are all available.  Even better — we’ll train you on the specifics!  Interested? Have more questions? Please email Harold Ennulat at hennulat@fiveoakschurch.org or call/text him at 651-442-5691.

Try a small group this summer
Many small groups dial back their pace a bit in the summer, taking a break from planned study to focus on fellowship. If you’re looking to join a small group, summer is a great time to meet others in a more relaxed setting to find a good fit for your schedule and life stage. Interested in more info? Email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org.

Our kids study The Gospel Project, too
Your children, ages birth to 5th grade, learn about Jesus through the Gospel Project Curriculum, the same curriculum used in every ministry of our church. When you take sermon notes, recall that the outline has family discussion questions on it for your use at home. And using the Big Picture Cards that your child receives in class, we hope you have great conversations with your kids about the word of God.

Let us help you raise your game at the FMSC Community Pack-out!
We know that you don’t want to be a spectator – that’s why you volunteer either here at church or in your community.  If you have ever helped pack meals for Feed my Starving Children in the past, you may be ready to find a way to do more.

Here’s how we can help you do just that: Sign up to be a “Super Volunteer” (actually called a Certified Volunteer) for  the Woodbury Five Million Meals Mobile Pack event at Health East Sports Center, October 4-7, 2018.

All you need to do is:
·         Be available for two consecutive shifts ( six hours)
·         Attend a two hour training session (times shown in the attached link)
·         Make sure the volunteers have what they need and put their finished boxes on pallets
·         Answer simple questions
You'll experience the joy of helping others have a great experience while they pack meals for the most needy people in the world. You'll also get a t-shirt, great food ... and a special hairnet!
