Weekend of July 28+29

BAPTISM-2018.jpg

^ See that?  It's this Sunday!

Our summer celebration is upon us -- the weekend when we gather as a church family to worship and celebrate with those who are taking this important step of baptism in their faith journey.

The baptism pool is ready. The stage is masterminded. We even have have shade this year, people!

You just need to bring your family, chairs or a blanket, sunscreen, a picnic lunch, and some loose change for the MikMart ice cream truck. Five Oaks has the beverages covered for you.

Recall that we're doing a Backyard Baptism After-Party as well, so along with that picnic, we'll have lawn games set up in the backyard. Join the frivolity!

Until we see you on Sunday, July 29 at 10 am -- (not Saturday! Stay home and weed the garden instead!) -- please join us in praying for our service and for the hearts of those who will be baptized on Sunday:

Lauren Burquest
Logan Eiselt
Aaron Erhardt
Erik Feagler
Brooklyn Flansburg
Kellee Flansburg
Sarah Langhout
Isaac Lenling
Ava Reckinger

We look forward to seeing you for this very special celebration -- rain or shine -- on Sunday!

Five Oaks Kids volunteers: save the date for our kick-off
In order to best equip our Five Oaks Kids volunteers, please join us for our Volunteer Kick-off, August 15, 6 pm. We’ll start with supper (walking tacos -- oh yes!), and then do some vision casting and Q+A for the school year. Our kick-off will help you feel connected to other volunteers and ready to shepherd Five Oaks’ youngest people! Please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org, to RSVP.

Students volunteers: save the date for our kick-off
Students love youth group in part because they love our volunteers. In order to best equip our Five Oaks Students volunteers, please join us for the Volunteer Kick-off, August 15, 6 pm.  Supper is included -- (walking tacos indeed!), followed by vision casting and Q+A. This event will help you feel equipped and connected, ready to impact our teens! Please email Cindy Yarrington, cyarrington@fiveoakschurch.org, to RSVP.

Seminary students from China share the pulse
Kevin and Donald, two Trinity Seminary students who are connected to our City Team in China, will share their story and answer your questions after the Saturday service, August 4, Room 10. You’ll leave with a more informed picture about the ministry of the church in China during these changing times, and about the vision of those who want to face the challenge. Pizza will be served.

Let Pastor Henry answer all your questions
If you’re new here, you may wonder how best to get connected. We have a simple first step, called Pizza with the Pastor. This one-hour lunch with Pastor Henry will allow you to ask any questions about Five Oaks and get you started connecting with others. FREE childcare and a FREE pizza and salad lunch.  Sunday, August 26, after the second service. Please email Martha Young, myoung@fiveoakschurch.org, to register.

Are you a sound guy? A lighting gal? We need you this summer
If you have interest in the tech side of worship, summer is a great time to dabble in our weekend tech ministry.  Roles such as: live sound production & stage setups, media prep and presentations, video podcasting and/or  production, lighting setups, programming and operations are all available.  Even better — we’ll train you on the specifics!  Interested? Have more questions? Please email Harold Ennulat at hennulat@fiveoakschurch.org or call/text him at 651-442-5691.

Try a small group this summer
Many small groups dial back their pace a bit in the summer, taking a break from planned study to focus on fellowship. If you’re looking to join a small group, summer is a great time to meet others in a more relaxed setting to find a good fit for your schedule and life stage. Interested in more info? Email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org.

Let us help you raise your game at the FMSC Community Pack-out!
We know that you don’t want to be a spectator – that’s why you volunteer either here at church or in your community.  If you have ever helped pack meals for Feed my Starving Children in the past, you may be ready to find a way to do more.

Here’s how we can help you do just that: Sign up to be a “Super Volunteer” (actually called a Certified Volunteer) for  the Woodbury Five Million Meals Mobile Pack event at Health East Sports Center, October 4-7, 2018.

All you need to do is:

·         Be available for two consecutive shifts ( six hours)
·         Attend a two hour training session (times shown in the attached link)
·         Make sure the volunteers have what they need and put their finished boxes on pallets
·         Answer simple questions

You will experience the joy of helping others have a great experience while they pack meals for the most needy people in the world. You'll also get a t-shirt, great food ... and a special hairnet!

Ready to take the plunge?  Use the attached Sign Up Genius Link. The full description of benefits and responsibilities is in this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e4dafaa2da6fe3-five
