Our volunteers rock
We see volunteers as we walk up to the doors of Five Oaks each week, or when we buy coffee at the Acorn, or when we drop our kids off in Five Oaks Kids. Many of them we don't see, as they love their behind-the-scenes roles. These folks might be running the lights in our worship service, or they might be setting up or tearing down for youth group on a Wednesday. They also might be wiping smudges from the front doors or straightening garbage cans.
Each week, 150+ adults and teens offer their time in service at our church. One thing they all share is a love of serving and a love for the people of Five Oaks.
Join us this weekend as we celebrate the heart that our volunteers pour into Five Oaks each week.
Small groups in the summer = easy way to try a something new
Many of our small groups dial back their pace a bit in the summer, taking a break from planned study to focus on fellowship and community building. If you’re looking to join a small group, summer is a great time to meet others in a more relaxed setting to find a good fit for your schedule and life stage. Interested in more info? Write “small groups /summer” and your email on your communication card. We’ll also have more info at the ministry cart this weekend.
Questions about salvation or baptism? Join our class this Sunday
Not sure how to answer your kids’ questions about salvation and/or baptism? Or perhaps you have some questions of your own? Kids and parents are welcome to join us on June 24 at 9:00 in room 101 as we help guide family conversations on these big questions. Hope you can make it!
Are you new here? Pizza with the Pastor this Sunday
If you’re new here, you may wonder how best to get connected. We have a simple first step, called Pizza with the Pastor. This one-hour, sit-down lunch with Pastor Henry will allow you to ask any questions about Five Oaks and get you started connecting with others at our church. FREE childcare and a FREE pizza and salad lunch. June 24 after the second service -- that’s this Sunday! Hope you can make it. See you in room 101.
Do you love kids but your time is limited?
Each weekend almost 200 kids learn about God in the classrooms of Five Oaks Kids. Your willing spirit can make a big difference: helping out at the welcome desk, or substitute teaching in a classroom are 2 easy ways. Please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org or write “Five Oaks Kids summer” and your email on your communication card. She’ll help you find a fit for your schedule and gifts.
All-church goodbye party for Talks + worship
Parents, students, one and all — please join us June 27 as we worship together in preparation for our Challenge trip and spend time celebrating the Talk family and all they have done for families in Five Oaks Students. Besides great worship, you can look forward to great treats and big laughs, and maybe even a classic Justin game or two. 6-8 pm.
Dorothy Day: help provide a warm meal
Most of us don’t worry about where our next meal will come from. Not everyone in our own community is that fortunate. This is an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus and help prepare and serve a meal at the Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul. Saturday, July 7, 8:30 am—1:15 pm. Must be at least 13 years old. To register, please send Tim and Cindy Wiant a message on Realm.
Please pray for our Haiti team
Please pray for our team of 8, ranging in age from 14 to 61, who travel June 22-29 to share God’s word with the kids and villagers at All God’s Children’s Orphanage in Mirebalais, Haiti. The team would appreciate prayers for safe travel and seamless customs, for God to prepare the hearts of all they will meet, especially the older kids and staff, in hopes of starting meaningful Christ-centered conversations. Thank you!
