Shipwrecked VBS: Registration opens Sunday

Hey kids! Venture onto an uncharted island where you will survive and thrive.  Anchor yourself in the truth that Jesus carries you through life’s storms. Join us on June 11-15 from 9:15am- 12pm as we have fun exploring Bible truths, singing songs, using our imagination, pausing for a snack and making new friends. Shipwrecked Vacation Bible School is open to children 3 years old by 9/1/2017 and potty trained, through 4th grade completed. More info will be available at the ministry cart in the Commons this weekend. Registration opens here on Sunday, March 25.

Serving once can be HUGE
We know that many of you are in a season of life when serving regularly at Five Oaks just can’t fit.  That’s why we have simple, one-time SERVE opportunities this Easter that you and your family can make work. (Some you can even do at home!) Please fill out the Easter SERVE handout you received today with your Worship Guide and place it in the offering box.  We’ll contact you and do the rest!  With questions, please message Jennifer Clemens on Realm.

Do you know the story of the Bible?
In our Story of God class, you’ll learn how the Bible fits together to tell one story and how you fit into God’s story. You’ll connect with others from Five Oaks in a cohort setting. This class is a six-week series of one-hour meetings, plus a small amount of daily homework. The final two classes of the school year start April 10 and April 15.  To register, please click here

Two notes from our Connections Ministry
•Several Easter SERVE opportunities are still available! You and your family can serve together Easter weekend. Please fill out the Easter SERVE brochure at the ministry cart in the Commons and we’ll contact you.

•Starting Easter weekend, Five Oaks will transition to serving Caribou coffee at the Acorn. To celebrate, all Caribou coffee will be free Easter weekend.  Be ready to enjoy!

Hey students — are you staying in town for spring break?
Hawaii? Florida? Colorado?  Nah...give me Skyzone! Make plans now to meet up with your youth group friends at Skyzone! March 28, 5:40-8 pm. You can find more details and register for the event here.

You can offer the warmth of family on Easter
Would you like to host a Chinese student (and perhaps a spouse and child) at your Easter meal? Many of you have served a Friendship Meal at the Hospitality Center for Chinese, and this is a great way to go a little deeper with those students. You could even invite them to attend Easter services with you at Five Oaks. If you are interested, please email Kevin Johnson.

Hey students! Don’t miss the highlight of the spring!
District Blitz is a weekend retreat in Duluth, MN, with amazing worship, teaching, breakouts and free time with friends! April 27-29. $150 covers registration, hotel, transportation, and most meals. Stop by the ministry cart in the Commons to pick up a card with all the details and registration info. You may register on Realm!

We are a church of small groups
Many who are involved in a small group report that their small group represents their closest community at Five Oaks.  Maybe you’ve never tried a small group before or took a break from it.  We offer small groups for every life stage, meeting on every day of the week, so you can expect to meet others facing similar goals and challenges. People like you. Please email Jonathan Haage if you’re interested.

Would you like some snuggle time?
We love babies! And babies love to be comforted! We’re looking for volunteers with good cuddling skills who will snuggle and play with our babies in the nursery so the parents of those sweet babies might enjoy worship with peace of mind. Interested in blessing these parents? Please email Cindy Yarrington for more info.

Hang out with some of our favorite friends!
Our special abilities class, the Retreat, is looking for volunteers to come hang out with us during the 9am service. No extra training is necessary, just your love for Jesus and for kids. For more info, please email Cindy Yarrington.

Got a question about Realm?
Realm is our app-based tool that will simplify how we communicate as a church. If you haven’t yet created your account, look for your email invite from Five Oaks Church dated January 26 and get started! Stuck? Go to www.5oaks.info. for more info or email office@fiveoakschurch.org with your questions. You’ll find it easy to use, and we’ve already seen how it simplifies our communication efforts.

Connections team: now “hiring” some key volunteers!
We have openings on three different teams. We’d love for you to join us if these fit your passions and interest!

•If you’ve ever been told you’re a natural host, we need you on the Info Center team! This is a great way to get to know new faces at Five Oaks while serving. We have both Saturday and Sunday openings for a once monthly serve.

•We’re also looking for White Glove team members. This involves light cleaning and organizing prior to weekend services. If you appreciate the “final touches” in life, this would be a great role for you. Also a once-monthly serve.

•It can be a little intimidating when you first visit a church and don’t know what to expect, so our Concierge team is ready to help first-time guests have a smooth visit.  They are the folks you see each week by the “New Here” sign who help check in kids, offer free drinks and answer questions for our visitors.

To volunteer or for more info on any of these positions, please email Jennifer Clemens, or message her on Realm.
