3 reasons parents should come to youth group

Have you ever disagreed with your middle or high school student about screen time? Do you wonder how to help your student through the stress of school, anxieties with friends, or how to talk reasonably with them about sexuality and dating?

If you answered yes to one or more of these, join us for our milestone classes for parents in May:

May 9  -- Technology, led by Family and Discipleship Pastor John Eiselt
May 16 -- Sexuality and Dating, led by Student Ministry Pastor Justin Talk
May 23 -- Stress and Anxiety, led by Marriage and Family Therapist Dave Runion

All sessions will take place from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Worship Center. Please RSVP for these sessions through Realm.

VBS: key details for this weekend & next

•Shipwrecked Vacation Bible School, June 11-15, will help kids ages 3-10 (end of 4th grade), see how they are anchored to Jesus through life’s storms.

More details to follow, but please RSVP to Justin Talk. To RSVP, please click here to email Justin Talk.

Let Pastor Henry answer all your questions
If you’re new here, you may wonder how best to get connected. We have a simple first step, called Pizza with the Pastor. This one-hour lunch with Pastor Henry will allow you to ask any questions about Five Oaks and get you started connecting with others at our church. FREE childcare and a FREE pizza and salad lunch.  Sunday, May 20, after the second service. Please click here to email Martha Young to register.

These devotions link to the sermon
DailyLife devotions, written by our volunteer team of writers, correlate directly to the Gospel Project and to the sermon from the previous week. These devotions will give you extra insight for your small group discussions, if you are involved with one. If you don’t currently receive DailyLife in your email inbox, sign up at fiveoaks.church/dailylife or write “DailyLife” and your email on your Communication Card.

Looking to serve as a family?
As parents, you want to model serving to your family.  We have a simple serve option that fits the bill.  We have openings at all three services for communion preparation.  The bread and juice are already prepared - we just need help with setup in the Worship Center.  Serve during regular worship times once a month.  For more information, please click here to email Jennifer Clemens.

Are you friendly? Hospitable?
If you’ve ever been told that you are approachable, kind, easy to talk to, we need your people skills on our greeting team! We have openings on our greeter team for the Saturday service and for both Sunday morning services. For more info, please click here to email Jennifer Clemens.

Make Realm work for you
As more and more people at Five Oaks engage with Realm, our app-based communication tool, we want to share some key Realm info that very likely could make Realm both more usable and useful to you.

If you haven't yet logged into Realm for whatever reason -- maybe you don’t want one more THING to check?  We want to encourage you that Realm is a one-stop communication tool that helps us connect with each other:  communicate with teams and groups, share prayer requests, register for events, and even alert the entire church that we are canceling services for something like, A BLIZZARD, for example.  In short, Realm is our primary method of communication within the church.

If you haven't yet created your Realm account, look in your email for an invite to join Realm. You received that invite on April 26 or 27 from Five Oaks Church. Within that email is an invite link unique to your email address. From your computer or a web browser on your phone, click on that link to begin setting up your account.  AFTER your have created a username and password, then you may download the app, called Realm Connect, and log in using your newly-created credentials.

If you already have your Realm account set up, the app downloaded, and have been using it for several weeks or months, you may have realized that the default privacy settings are the most conservative settings possible. This is a great baseline, and you get to control who sees what information about you. To make Realm most useful, you'll want to spend a few minutes deciding which level of information is appropriate for each group you are a member of at Five Oaks. To see a short video explaining the privacy settings, click here.

You also may make these changes from your computer.
