Realm: It helps us get connected

Our goal is to be a church where you can get connected, and we have tools to help you do just that.  One of those tools is an online communication app called Realm.  Realm is one single platform you can use to get connected to all things Five Oaks.  We’ve been working with Realm to help make this experience even better and have some great new updates to share with you.  Show up this weekend to learn more about some of the exciting changes we'll see with Realm in the months ahead.

If you are new to Five Oaks or have Realm questions, please email Pam Hawley at phawley@fiveoakschurch.org to get a Realm invite or answers to your questions.

We can put China within your reach
Ever wondered how in the world you can impact China? It’s so far away and so closed to the gospel -- or is it? We can put China within your reach.  We have several Chinese students attending the U of M who would love to experience an American Thanksgiving meal. If you are interested in hosting a student and their family in your home for Thanksgiving, please email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Community Thanksgiving Eve service: fellowship with your neighbors
Join in fellowship alongside your neighbors as Christian churches in Woodbury gather together to celebrate this Thanksgiving season. We’ll hear from a representative from the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf as well as a representative from the Woodbury Mayor’s office. Your whole family is welcome! We’ll even have a message for children during the service. Wednesday, November 21, 7 pm, St. Ambrose Catholic Community, 4125 Woodbury Drive.

Grab your small group — ’tis the season…
This is an easy serve opportunity that will feel more like fellowship and Christmas fun.  Join us November 25 after the second service as we decorate the Christmas trees in the Worship Center and the Commons.  A great serving opportunity for small groups! We’ll have snacks to keep the fun moving! To RSVP, please email Harold Ennulat, hennulat@fiveoakschurch.org.

No Student Ministry this week
We will take a break from our regular student ministry programming this week (November 21)  in preparation for Thanksgiving weekend. We look forward to seeing you back at youth group next week -- November 28 -- from 6-8 pm. Happy Thanksgiving!

Family worship weekend next weekend
The weekend of November 24+25 will be a Family Worship weekend. This means some special worship, as children in grades 1-5 will worship with their families in the Worship Center. It’s a great time to get kids engaged in the sermon and go through the stations together as a family. Look for kids’ worship bags just outside the Worship Center to help children stay engaged if you need them.

Are you a Saturday regular at Five Oaks?
Our Saturday services have a more relaxed vibe, so it’s a comfortable way to ease into serving on the weekends.  We have openings for ushers, greeters and Acorn Café on each Saturday of the month.  In most cases, you can serve and still attend the Saturday service.  For more info, please email Jennifer Clemens, jclemens@fiveoakschurch.org.

Family Advent Services start December 2: register now for the Manger Build
Feeling pulled in too many directions during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Our Family Advent Services, which take place on Sunday afternoons in December, are one holiday tradition that will help you savor the moments.  Make meaningful Christmas memories as we prepare our hearts to remember the reason for the season.  We’ll gather for a short time in the Worship Center, and then move to the Commons for some interactive family stations. Our first Advent service, on December 2, will feature the Manger Build as one of the interactive stations. This is an opportunity for you and your family to create an easy-to-assemble wooden manger, and take home some Advent devotions for your family to share. Join us for the time-honored traditions of carols, crafting, cocoa and more! Family and friends of all ages are welcome! You may register your family for the Manger Build (we need to have enough manger kits available!) on Realm.

Pre-teens know how to party
Fifth graders are at a very social age. We have events in Five Oaks Kids planned JUST for fifth graders and their friends, in hopes of getting kids excited to join Five Oaks Students next fall.  These events are great invite opportunities for school and neighborhood friends! If you’d like more info or to help plan, please write “5th grade” on your communication card. Or, you may email Kelly Bauman at kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

Happy Thanksgiving!
The office at Five Oaks will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22+23.

Jingle Jam — a “sense-ible” Christmas event for your family and friends!
Filled with games, skits, songs and more…Jingle Jam will help your family and friends experience the fun and meaning of the Christmas story with all of your senses. This high-energy event will capture the attention of young and old, and will jumpstart some meaningful conversation for your family about the miracle of Christmas. Mark your calendar for this free event on Friday, December 7th at 7:00pm and stay tuned for information on how you can reserve your spot!

Will your grandchildren visit you over the holidays?
Hey grandparents! If you plan to bring grandkids or other young visitors to Five Oaks during their visit, you can help us make their visit easier by pre-registering your grandkids in our system well ahead of their arrival. Please stop by the Welcome Center anytime to get them pre-registered. It will only take a few minutes now and will help speed up your arrival during their visit!

In Sympathy
Please join us in praying for Carol Pittman as she mourns the passing of her husband, Earl. Earl was also the father of Joe Pittman, so we also are praying for Joe, Diane and the rest of the Pittman family.
