Family Advent Services start December 2: Register now for the Manger Build
Feeling pulled in too many directions during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Our Family Advent Services, which take place on Sunday afternoons in December, are one holiday tradition that will help you savor the moments. Make meaningful Christmas memories as we prepare our hearts to remember the reason for the season. We’ll gather for a short time in the Worship Center, and then move to the Commons for some interactive family stations.
Our first Advent service, on December 2, will feature the Manger Build as one of the interactive stations. This is an opportunity for you and your family to create an easy-to-assemble wooden manger, and take home some Advent devotions for your family to share. Join us for the time-honored traditions of carols, crafting, cocoa and more! Family and friends of all ages are welcome! To register your family for the Manger Build (we need to have enough manger kits available!), please click here.
Family worship weekend this weekend
The weekend of November 24+25 will be a Family Worship weekend. This means some special worship time with your family, as children in grades 1-5 will worship with their families in the Worship Center. It’s a great time to get kids engaged in the sermon and go through the stations together as a family. Look for kids’ worship bags just outside the Worship Center to help children stay engaged if you need them.
You can help us ready Five Oaks for Christmas – this Sunday
This is an easy serve opportunity that will feel more like fellowship and Christmas fun. Two ways to connect with Women’s Ministry
The holiday can feel hectic, but we have two ways to take a breath and connect with others. Our TABLE events, December 4 (evening) or December 5 (morning) offer a meal and conversation. Come hungry for conversation and God’s Word as we share with other Rooted Women what God is saying in your life. A great invite opportunity for neighbors and friends! Email women@fiveoakschurch.org for more info.
Or, join us for Christmas Around the World, an evening of fellowship and a glimpse of other cultures’ Christmas traditions. This is a free event that will include snacks Christmas treats, and some shared info on how other cultures’ Christmas traditions point to Jesus. Also a great invite opportunity for neighbors and friends! December 13, 6-9 pm at Five Oaks. To register, click here.
Serve on our most “visible” team
You can serve in a more behind-the-scenes role that is very “visible” in our church. Each week our White Glove team does some light cleaning before the services to remove fingerprints, empty trash, wipe mirrors, etc. This team has openings for our Sunday 11:00 services. We also have additional needs for the Usher team on Sundays at 11. Please email Jennifer Clemens, jclemens@fiveoakschurch.org, with questions or to talk about serving.
Are you a Saturday regular at Five Oaks?
Our Saturday services have a more relaxed vibe, so it’s a comfortable way to ease into serving on the weekends. We have openings for ushers, greeters and Acorn Café on each Saturday of the month. In most cases, you can serve and still attend the Saturday service. For more info, please email Jennifer Clemens, jclemens@fiveoakschurch.org.
What would Christmas be like if your mom or dad were in prison?
Children with a parent in prison grow up wondering if their mom or dad still loves them. Through Angel Tree you can be the one to show them they do! Angel Tree connects parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts and the Gospel. For more information, email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
Realm app helps us connect with each other
Our goal is to be a church where you can get connected, and we have tools to help you do just that. One of those tools is an online communication app called Realm. Realm is one single platform you can use to get connected to all things Five Oaks. We’ve been working with Realm to help make this experience even better and have some great new updates to share with you. If you are new to Five Oaks or have Realm questions, please email Pam Hawley at phawley@fiveoakschurch.org to get an Realm invite or answers to your questions.
Will your grandchildren visit you over the holidays?
Hey grandparents! If you plan to bring grandkids or other young visitors to Five Oaks during their visit, you can help us make their visit easier by pre-registering your grandkids in our system well ahead of their arrival. Please stop by the Welcome Center anytime to get them pre-registered. It will only take a few minutes now and will help speed up your arrival during their visit!
Christmas Eve worship at Five Oaks
Join us for Christmas Eve worship at Five Oaks. Our services times are:
December 23 4 pm
December 24 1 pm
2:30 pm
4 pm
Please note that we will not have our usual weekend services on December 22 + 23. In addition, starting this weekend, you will see RSVP tickets available in the Commons just outside the main Worship Center doors. We ask that once you know which Christmas Eve service you will attend, please take the number of tickets for the people in your family who will attend with you. (Don’t forget to include out-of-town visitors!) These tickets are simply a tool to help us gauge how full each of our Christmas Eve services will be. They are not required for admission to the service, but instead will help us plan accordingly for each service.
