Weekend of September 1+2

It can't be all about the kids all of the time

As we turn our thoughts to back-to-school and a return to routine, it's time for men and women -- moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles, to invest in themselves. We know you're busy juggling family, your career, aging parents, and keeping a home, but did you know that when you take time to invest in your faith, spend time in community with others, and learn from God's Word, you'll be better at all those other tasks?  When you are "fed," so to speak, you can then more effectively pour into the people in your life who need you most.

Our men's and women's ministries are both hosting kick-off events in the month of September.  Consider joining us at either event for some great food, time with other men or women, and a chance to learn more about the fall studies and events offered in each ministry.

Food trucks coming soon to our very own parking lot!
Back to school … and another ministry year begins! Join us September 8 & 9 for Kickoff Weekend at Five Oaks. New classes for the Tree House, and a sermon series focusing on families! We’ll celebrate with food trucks between/after services as well. On Saturday eve, the MikMart ice cream truck will be available selling last-breath-of-summer ice cream novelties. On Sunday, the Tasty Twins food truck and the O’Cheeze food truck will be onsite selling Target Field classics and all things cheesy.

Now hiring: Weekday Sprouts Director role open
We have a part-time position open that will bless the moms of our community manifold by helping provide them a needed break on Wednesday mornings while they study God’s word and fellowship with other women. Our Sprouts Director will help recruit and provide leadership to teachers and caretakers, plus plan and oversee programing for the Sprouts ministry. Please email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org, for more info.

Discover your part in the Story of God
Most people find the Bible confusing, even lifelong readers, because most of us don’t understand how it all fits together to tell one story. In Story of God, this six-week experience will offer you a knowledgeable framework for the Bible, help you read it with greater understanding, and make room for your tough questions. Not only can you expect honest answers, but also you can look forward to a practical, realistic approach to reading the Bible for the rest of your life. This is a great way to connect with others in your Story of God cohort, too. For more info on classes starting this fall, visit storyofgod.church.

Is your family disconnected?
Summer is almost over. Do you feel like you’ve been on the run and haven’t been as connected with your family as you want to be?  At Five Oaks, we believe you as parents play the most influential role in the lives of your kids.  We are here to help resource you so that you can build meaningful relationships with your kids and thrive together spiritually. As you prepare for the school year, stop by our Family Resource Center to pick you your child’s next Phase Card. Our Family and Discipleship Team staff will be there to support you and guide you to helpful resources.

We can do more together
We know that kids are ready to learn when they feel welcomed and loved. If you have a heart for kids, we’d love your help in Five Oaks Kids this ministry year! We have opportunities at all age levels, birth-grade 5, weekly or monthly commitments. We also have room for you on our sub list! Please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch,org, and she’ll help you find a great fit.

Let Pastor Henry answer all your questions
If you’re new here, you may wonder how best to get connected. We have a simple first step, called Pizza with the Pastor. This one-hour lunch with Pastor Henry will allow you to ask any questions about Five Oaks and get you started connecting with others. FREE childcare and a FREE pizza and salad lunch.  Sunday, September 9, after the second service. Please email Kelsey Vang, kvang@fiveoakschurch.org,  to register.

Camp Getaway: save the date
Middle and high schoolers, mark your calendars now for the biggest weekend of the fall in Five Oaks Students! Join us September 21-23 for Camp Getaway, a weekend full of games, food, small group time, and great worship. More info to come, but clear your schedule now!

Registration now open for Hearts & Hammers!
Help us come alongside a young family in need  as we paint the exterior of their home and do a light landscaping transformation. The father in this family was paralyzed and left with a brain injury early in 2017 when he was involved in a tragic car accident. Your help with painting, yard work and light carpentry will help lighten the burden for this family. Saturday, September 22, starting at 7:45 am, at their home in St. Paul.  Anyone is welcome to join us — men, women and kids ages 12 and up. Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack: YOU can help Five Oaks make a difference!
At Five Oaks we know that you want to be a difference-maker and not a spectator. Creating change is within your reach! Join us as we partner with Feed My Starving Children and our entire community to help pack Five Million Meals at HealthEast Sports Center in October. This is both a great opportunity to serve as a family —ages 5 and up are welcome— and a chance to reach out to your friends and neighbors. Inviting them to join you is an easy way to involve them in what is important to you. Help our Five Oaks community create hope for children across the world in desperate need.

We’re encouraging our Five Oaks family to serve together at one of two shifts: Use one of these links to sign up:
