Weekend of September 8+9

SmallGroups.jpeg

Are you crazy busy?

Our culture embraces -- even exalts -- busyness, and it’s hard to not get caught up in it. Even with the best intentions otherwise, we know life demands a lot of your time.

You may be thinking that joining a small group will only add one more thing, one more obligation to fulfill. Instead, a small group can be a place to belong, a place to find community and shared experiences to help you face life’s busyness.

Visit the ministry cart in the Commons this weekend to peruse our small groups catalog. We can help you find a one that fits your life stage and schedule. Remember -- it’s always OK to “test drive” a small group!

Let Pastor Henry answer all your questions this Sunday!
If you’re new here, you may wonder how best to get connected. We have a simple first step, called Pizza with the Pastor. This one-hour lunch with Pastor Henry will allow you to ask any questions about Five Oaks and get you started connecting with others. FREE childcare and a FREE pizza and salad lunch.  Sunday, September 9, after the second service. Hope to see you there!

Food trucks coming this weekend to our very own parking lot!
Back to school … and another ministry year begins! Join us this weekend for Kickoff Weekend at Five Oaks. New classes for the Tree House, and a new sermon series focusing on families! We’ll celebrate with food trucks between/after services as well. On Saturday eve, the MikMart ice cream truck will be available selling last-breath-of-summer ice cream novelties. On Sunday, the Tasty Twins food truck and the O’Cheeze food truck will be onsite selling Target Field classics and all things cheesy.

Men’s & women’s ministry kick-off events in September
Women, we know how hard you work to serve others, and some days, it can feel lonely. Join us for fellowship and brunch at our fall kickoff at our TABLE on September 12, 9:15. Register at the ministry cart in the Commons or write “TABLE” and your email on your comm card.
Men, join us at our Pancake Breakfast September 29, 8 am. Guest speaker Vince Miller of Resolute Ministry will share insight on the fall study titled “Commitment,” a study created by Miller that looks at the various areas men are called to commit to. More info & registration at the ministry cart in the Commons between services.

Camp Getaway registration now open!
Middle and high schoolers, mark your calendars now for the biggest weekend of the fall in Five Oaks Students! Join us September 21-23 for Camp Getaway, a weekend full of games, food, small group time, and great worship. Registration now open on Realm!

Discover your part in the Story of God
Most people find the Bible confusing, even lifelong readers, because most of us don’t understand how it all fits together to tell one story. In Story of God, this six-week experience will offer you a knowledgeable framework for the Bible, help you read it with greater understanding, and make room for your tough questions. Not only can you expect honest answers, but also you can look forward to a practical, realistic approach to reading the Bible for the rest of your life. This is a great way to connect with others in your Story of God cohort, too. For more info on classes starting this fall, visit storyofgod.church.

We can do more together
We know that kids are ready to learn when they feel welcomed and loved. If you have a heart for kids, we’d love your help in Five Oaks Kids this ministry year! We have opportunities at all age levels, birth-grade 5, weekly or monthly commitments. We also have room for you on our sub list! Please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org, and she’ll help you find a great fit.

Hearts & Hammers registration now open!
Help us come alongside a young St. Paul family as we paint the exterior of their home and do a light landscaping transformation. The father in this family was paralyzed and left with a brain injury early in 2017 when he was involved in a tragic car accident. Saturday, September 22, starting at 7:45 am, at their home in St. Paul.  Anyone age 12 & up may help!  Click here for more details and to register:  https://goo.gl/forms/cCJBUg3KJUh2BXhO2

Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack: YOU can help Five Oaks make a difference!
At Five Oaks we know that you want to be a difference-maker and not a spectator. Creating change is within your reach! Join us as we partner with Feed My Starving Children and our entire community to help pack Five Million Meals at HealthEast Sports Center in October. This is both a great opportunity to serve as a family —ages 5 and up are welcome— and a chance to reach out to your friends and neighbors. Inviting them to join you is an easy way to involve them in what is important to you. Help our Five Oaks community create hope for children across the world in desperate need.

We’re encouraging our Five Oaks family to serve together at one of two shifts: Use one of these links to sign up:

Five Oaks Church First Shift: Saturday, October 6, 3-5 PM
