A fresh start for your family in the new year

Start strong in 2020 with one of our free Parenting Classes that will help you on your journey with your family. You’ll learn how to navigate the phase you’re in with relational connection, and you’ll leave the class with a plan for having conversations about technology, stress and anxiety, sex, and other crucial topics every parent should cover with their kids and teens. The Preschool/Elementary Parenting Class will be held on January 5 at 9 am, and the Middle/High School Parenting Class will be held on January 8 at 6:30 pm. Feel free to invite neighbors with kids or teens in the same phase as yours to join you! Click here to register for the Preschool/Elementary class.  Click here to register for the Middle/High School class.

Don’t miss our final family Advent service
Put a halt to that hectic holiday hustle! Join us for our final Family Advent service on December 15 at 4:30 pm. We’ll prepare our hearts, and make room in our lives for Jesus, as we gather for meaningful advent traditions. An impact project, crafts, games, and a hot cocoa bar are just a few things to expect! On your way out, you’ll receive family devotionals and activities that you can use throughout Advent. Invite your neighbors!

Due this Sunday! Giving Tree gifts for families of Woodbury Elementary
Many families in Woodbury are unable to buy Christmas gifts for their kids. Five Oaks teams with Kids Hope USA to help your family bridge that gap for children at Woodbury Elementary. If you grabbed a tag or two off our Giving Tree in the last few weeks, please recall that we need you to return wrapped gifts & their tags to church by December 15. Questions? Email khusa@fiveoakschurch.org.

Christmas Eve SERVE: Two ways to sign up!
If you are staying in town over Christmas, we’d love for you to jump in and try out a new serving opportunity! We have two easy ways to get involved:

1. Text fiveoaks (be sure it's all lowercase) to 555-888. You'll then be asked a couple of questions and directed to the sign-ups.

2. Or, if you prefer to sign up without having to text, you may click here for open spots in Five Oaks Kids, or click here for spots in any of our Connections areas. As an added bonus, everyone who serves at Christmas is welcome to rest and enjoy some eats at our Volunteer Central. Room 101 will be stocked with lots of yummy treats!

Worship with us at Christmas time
Our Christmas Eve services offer you a place to be still and revel in the thrill of hope that a weary soul craves.  Join us for one of our identical services December 22, 3:30 or 5 pm, or December 24 at 2, 3:30 or 5 pm. Please take an RSVP card for each person attending with you from the table outside the worship center. This helps us plan for seating. Please note we will not have our regular weekend services December 21+22.

Students: Our Christmas party’s the thing
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a Five Oaks Students Christmas party! Join us for our last youth group of the year as we celebrate with food, snacks, carols, games, and a movie! A great night to invite friends, connect with other students and leaders, and celebrate an amazing year. To make sure we have the maximum time to celebrate, middle and high school will meet together from 6-9 pm! See you on December 18!

Dorothy Day: Be the hands and feet of Jesus
Do you and your busy family want a simple way to be a blessing to the needy, while having a great time of fellowship? Join us on Saturday, January 4 as we prepare and serve the noon meal at Dorothy Day. Minimum age is 13. To participate, write “Dorothy Day” and your email on your communication card. You also may email Tim and Cindy Wiant at wiynts4@sbcglobal.net. You must receive a confirmation to participate.

Thank you, Impact volunteers!
You and your busy families have helped to create change in a chaotic world by bringing the love of Christ and the Good News of forgiveness. You have prayed, gone on mission trips, sponsored children, served on partnership teams, mentored, hosted international students, packed, delivered, and served meals, housed vulnerable children, encouraged the discouraged, and have shown the love of Christ in many other ways. Thank you!

Women: Join us for the Reindeer Games Christmas Event
Remember how fun Christmas was when you were a kid? Playing endless games of Monopoly and Life with your siblings, the giant tin of three different popcorn flavors, the comfort of warm cocoa after playing in the snow, to name a few. You do so much to make Christmas special for others. Take a night to recapture that carefree spirit and fill up your Merry Meter with friends, fun and food at the Rooted Women’s Reindeer Games Christmas Event. December 19, 6:30-9:30 pm. Bring a $10 wrapped gift along for one of the games. Click here to RSVP.

Manhood restored
“Being a man” in our world, and even sometimes in the church, can be confusing. The Bible story offers clarity when we turn to the story it tells, not just the instructions it provides. Men, come to our Men’s Summit, January 24-26, 2020, to explore how the story of God informs our place in the story as men. Visit www.fiveoaks.church/summit to register. Early bird pricing available until the end of 2019.

Women: Looking for a stronger foundation in the Bible?
The women’s evening class of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) is back at Five Oaks Church again this year, and you and your school-aged students (1st through 12th grades) are invited! We are studying “Acts and Letters of the Apostles,” an amazing study of the word of God and his work in spreading the gospel to all nations through his apostles and through us. Join us Monday evenings from 6:45 – 8:15 pm. To register or for more info, email Alisa Bell at  bsf.arbell@gmail.com. You also may show up and we’ll get you plugged in!

Calling all adoptive and foster moms!
Welcome to Embrace-Woodbury South! At Embrace, you’ll meet other moms who are on a similar adoption/foster journey.  You’ll experience spiritual, emotional, and practical support for adoptive, foster, and ‘waiting’ moms. We will also make time to learn more about caring for our vulnerable children, along with learning to better care for ourselves and our families. We meet in room 105 on the second Thursday of each month, 6:30-8 pm. Questions? Please email Tammy Placzek at the_plaz@comcast.net.
