This serve opportunity checks all the boxes

It feels good to give back during the Christmas season. It lifts your spirits to know you’ve helped make someone’s holiday brighter. We have several easy ways to do just that at Five Oaks this Christmas. Just text fiveoaks to 555-888 and you will be connected to sign-ups where you can pick the service and the area that fits you best. Bonus: these are one-time serve experiences you can do as a family, group or individual! And, because all five of our Christmas Eve services are identical, you can easily serve at one service and worship at another service.

Welcome to our new middle school director!

We are excited to introduce to you our new Middle School Director, Kyler Albert! Kyler is originally from Chicago, Illinois. He has served and ministered to kids, students, and families in various roles for five years. He is passionate about seeing kids and students come to faith and grow in their relationship with Jesus. One of the unique qualities about Kyler is his passion and experience working in both children’s and student ministry. This is a particularly important skill set as we seek to help our elementary students transition well into middle school youth group and services on the weekend. We are excited for all that he will bring to our students and their families and to our team as well. This weekend we are introducing Kyler, and his wife Laura Paige at all three of our services. We invite you to join us in praying for them as they settle here in Minnesota and begin getting connected at Five Oaks!

Don’t miss our family Advent services
Put a halt to that hectic holiday hustle! Join us for the remaining Family Advent services on December 8 & 15 at 4:30 pm. We’ll prepare our hearts, and make room in our lives for Jesus, as we gather for meaningful advent traditions. An impact project, crafts, games, and a hot cocoa bar are just a few things to expect! On your way out, you’ll receive family devotionals and activities that you can use throughout Advent. Invite your neighbors!

Students serving in the community
Middle and high schoolers! Join us December 11 as we partner with Kids Hope USA to impact families in our community! We’re providing gift bags to kids at Woodbury Elementary who are mentored through KHUSA. We are meeting during our normal times (middle school 6-8 pm, and high school 7-9 pm), and each student is encouraged to bring $5 towards the gift! Questions? Email Peg Benson, pbenson@fiveoakschurch.org.

Loving Your City’s Children: The Giving Tree (Impact Passport “Ready” Opportunity)
Many families in Woodbury are unable to buy Christmas gifts for their kids. Five Oaks teams with Kids Hope USA to help your family bridge that gap for children at Woodbury Elementary. Stop by the KHUSA Giving Tree in the commons to pick up a gift tag this weekend – and to hear about other ways you can help. Return wrapped gifts & their tags to church by December 15. Questions? Email khusa@fiveoakschurch.org.

Worship with us at Christmas time
Christmas Eve services offer you and your family a place to be still, after all the demands that December places on us, and soak in the thrill of hope, the thrill that a weary soul experiences with the light of Christ.  Join us for services December 22, 3:30 or 5 pm, or December 24 at 2, 3:30 or 5 pm. (All five services are identical.) We know people will more likely try a new church when they’ve been invited by someone familiar, so consider inviting a new neighbor or recent transplant to at Christmas. Please note we will not have our regular weekend services December 21+22.

Manhood restored
“Being a man” in our world, and even sometimes in the church, can be confusing. The Bible story offers clarity when we turn to the story it tells, not just the instructions it provides. Men, come to our Men’s Summit, January 24-26, 2020, to explore how the story of God informs our place in the story as men. Visit www.fiveoaks.church/summit to register. Early bird pricing available until the end of 2019.

Women: Join us for the Reindeer Games Christmas Event
Remember how fun Christmas was when you were a kid? Playing endless games of Monopoly and Life with your siblings, the giant tin of three different popcorn flavors, the comfort of warm cocoa after playing in the snow, to name a few. You do so much to make Christmas special for others. Take a night to recapture that carefree spirit and fill up your Merry Meter with friends, fun and food at the Rooted Women’s Reindeer Games Christmas Event. December 19, 6:30-9:30 pm. Bring a $10 wrapped gift along for one of the games. Click here to RSVP.

Saturdays are beckoning...
If you love the silly things kids say, or the wide-eyed way they see the world, you likely would enjoy helping our youngest Five Oakers fall in love with Jesus. We still have several volunteer needs in Five Oaks Kids, especially on Saturdays. Please click here to email Kelly Bauman.

Thank you, Impact volunteers!
You and your busy families have helped to create change in a chaotic world with by bringing the love of Christ and the Good News of forgiveness. You have prayed, gone on mission trips, sponsored children, served on partnership teams, mentored, hosted international students, packed meals, delivered meals, served meals, housed vulnerable children, encouraged the discouraged, and have shown the love of Christ in many other ways. Thank you!

Calling all adoptive and foster moms!
Welcome to Embrace-Woodbury South! At Embrace, you’ll meet other moms who are on a similar adoption/foster journey.  You’ll experience spiritual, emotional, and practical support for adoptive, foster, and ‘waiting’ moms. We will also make time to learn more about caring for our vulnerable children, along with learning to better care for ourselves and our families. We meet in room 105 on the second Thursday of each month, 6:30-8 pm. Questions? Please email Tammy Placzek at the_plaz@comcast.net.
