Fun without wi-fi: It’s a thing for 5 years running

Our 5th Annual Game Café, on Friday, March 29, offers you an evening of “no-wi-fi fun” that includes dinner, snacks, board games for kids and adults, our Five Oaks Trivia contest, inflatables in the gym, BINGO, card games, dice games, and puzzles. A night of madcap fun for our Five Oaks church family!   Even better -- it’s all FREE from 6 ‘til 9 pm. Extra Game Cafe cards with all the details will be available at the ministry cart in the Commons this weekend after services.

We’ll need some extra biceps and smiles to pull this off! Please email Pam Hawley, phawley@fiveoakschurch.org,  or message her on Realm if you are available to help with this fun evening.

This weekend: final call for diapers + baby items
Make a big difference by doing something very simple. Bring diapers, wipes, and gently used baby clothing to our church Commons thru this weekend to help support New Life Family Services. NLFS helps those in pregnancy crisis to choose life. Through their Conquerors program, NLFS also helps those who have had abortions to experience the grace and forgiveness of God. For more information about Conquerors, call (612) 746-5639 or email coordinator@conquerorsafterabortion.org. Last call: please bring items by February 24.

Loving your world – international adoption
Worldwide, 153 million children live without forever parents.   International adoption has become more challenging over the past decade, but it is still possible, and the need is very great! Get your questions answered at the Foster Care Q & A session Sunday, February 24, 9 am in room 102.

Dedication? Baptism? What’s the difference?
Are you curious about what Dedication means at Five Oaks? Or perhaps you’re ready to take this first milestone step with your child? Join us March 3, 9 am in room 101 for our Dedication Milestone Class as we explore what the Bible says about dedication. To register, please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org, or message Kelly on Realm. Our next dedications will take place during services on April 6/7. Come to the class and get your questions answered!

Loving your world: Impact journey
Following Jesus Christ is a journey to make disciples of all nations as he commanded.   Does this sound overwhelming? We want to help you and your family create change and share Christ’s love by connecting you with local and global ministry partners, and walking with you on your Impact Journey. Jesus promised to be with you always on this Journey. Learn more March 2+3 for our Missions Weekend or email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Join our mission (membership)
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.”  If you have a personal relationship with Christ and have completed Story of God (the class or in your small group), make plans to come to the next membership class on March 10, 9 am, in room 102. Please RSVP by emailing Pam Hawley at phawley@fiveoakschurch.org, or message Pam on Realm.

Use your gifts to serve students!
Do you feel that youth ministry is intimidating? Or maybe you want to serve but haven't been asked or had the opportunity? We have many ways to get involved weekly, monthly, and even annually! We have dozens of leaders each week discipling students, preparing food for leaders and students, helping out with camps and retreats, even helping set up and tear down! Want to get involved or even check us out one week? Email Henry Michael Williams, our youth pastor, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org or message him on Realm.

Loving the next generation
We know that you want the next generation to fall in love with the word of God, but you may be overwhelmed at the idea of large classes or committing to serving on a regular basis. Five Oaks Kids is looking for more people to serve on Saturday nights (when numbers tend to not be overwhelming) or on the sub list. If you are interested in any of these, please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org, or message her on Realm.

Do you love language? Are you a grammar geek?
Do you silently edit the menu in a restaurant? Do you like to write? Our DailyLife team, the volunteers who write and edit our Five Oaks daily devotions, is seeking more writers and editors. These are two separate positions; all you need is willingness and a heart for helping our church access the Word daily. We’ll supply you with materials, training and support! For more info, please email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org, or message him on Realm.

Coffee and Jesus!
Are you a morning person? Love your morning coffee? Join us Thursdays at 6:30 am, March 7-April 11, for our Lent services. Enjoy bottomless coffee, scripture, prayer and reflection as we take a closer look at Jesus’ journey to the cross. We’ll dive into six questions that Jesus asked during his ministry and look at some Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in Jesus. New this year: Unable to make it to the service? Engage with the Lent services online. More info soon!

Getting connected is just a text away
You’ve decided Five Oaks is your church home, and now you are ready to get more connected.  A natural way to do that is starting to serve. Five Oaks has more than forty ways you can serve and meet others.  Our staff will come alongside you to help figure out which serve opportunity fits you best.  Get that process started today by texting the word fiveoaks to the 555-888.  Answer a few simple questions, and we will then be in touch to help you get started.

Are you an identity amnesiac?
With so many messages telling us who we are, we need to be grounded in who God says we are. Sign up for DailyLife and get devotions designed to engage you with Scripture and help daily remind you who you are because of who God is. Email office@fiveoakschurch.org, to start receiving DailyLife in your email inbox.

Discover your part in the Story of God
Many find the Bible confusing because many don’t understand how it all fits together to tell one story. In Story of God, this 6-week experience will provide a framework for the Bible, help you read it with greater understanding, and make room for tough questions. This is a great way to connect with others in your SOG cohort, too. New classes start in February and March. Click here for the schedule of Story of God classes starting soon.

Five Oaks book club
Do you love to read? Join us at our book club to discuss our monthly reading choice and meet others from church who also love a good book.
When:  Second Tuesday of every month
Time:  6:45 pm - discussion at 7 pm
Where:  Five Oaks Church, Fireside Commons
New members are welcome throughout the year. Join anytime. Please message Carie Jorgenson on Realm to find out what our upcoming titles will be and to ask any questions about joining us!
