Save the date(s) for Five Oaks Students

We offer many ways to get connected with Five Oaks Students for fun, growth, and making new friends. All of the trips we create for your students are imagined through the lens of not just filling their time, but instead creating meaningful, challenging and fun experience that will help stretch their spiritual growth.

If you’re in high school, join us for a winter cabin weekend away! Guys’ weekend is 2/22-24, and girls go 3/1-3. Cost: $35. Registration is live on Realm.

Middle schoolers have a weekend for themselves at District Blitz in Duluth on April 12-14! Registration details for this event are coming soon.

Summer plans are tightening up, and middle schoolers need to mark their calendars for Camp on June 27-30 at Camp Arrowhead! We'll take over the camp with our middle schoolers, their awesome leaders, and several Five Oaks staff!

High schoolers, save July 10-16 for a mission trip to Louisville, KY. We'll be serving in a few different settings and spending time with and learning more about local refugee families and their cultures of origin.

More details forthcoming regarding both of these summer opportunities, so save the dates now!

Ask Pastor Henry all your questions this Sunday
If you’re new here, you may wonder how best to get connected. We have a simple first step, called Pizza with the Pastor. This one-hour lunch with Pastor Henry will allow you to ask any questions about Five Oaks and get you started connecting with others. FREE childcare and a FREE pizza and salad lunch.  Sunday, February 10, after the second service. Walk-ups are welcome!

Helping others find healing: Diaper Drive
Make a big difference by doing something very simple. Bring diapers, wipes, and gently used baby clothing to our church Commons from February 9-24 to help support New Life Family Services. NLFS helps those in pregnancy crisis to choose life. Through their Conquerors program, NLFS also helps those who have had abortions to experience the grace and forgiveness of God. Remember when dating seemed effortless? As in, before kids, sleep debt, & minivans? If you can’t recall your last date night, mark your calendar now for a FREE Date Night at Five Oaks! On Friday, February 15, you’ll drop off your kids, ages birth through grade 5, at Five Oaks, and we’ll engage them in fun, enriching activities while you and your spouse enjoy a night out together. Loving the next generation
We know that you want the next generation to fall in love with the word of God, but you may be overwhelmed at the idea of large classes or committing to serving on a regular basis. Five Oaks Kids is looking for more people to serve on Saturday nights (when numbers tend to not be overwhelming) or on the sub list. If you are interested in any of these, please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

Got questions? So did Jesus!
Join us for Lent services as we reflect on 6 questions that Jesus asked during his ministry, and look at some Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in Jesus. Enjoy bottomless coffee, and engage in scripture and prayer as we take a closer look at Jesus’ journey to the cross. Thursday mornings, March 7-April 11 at 6:30 a.m. New this year: can’t make it to the service? Engage with the Lent services online. More info to come on our online access.

Getting connected is just a text away
You’ve decided Five Oaks is your church home, and now you are ready to get more connected.  A natural way to do that is starting to serve. Five Oaks has more than forty ways you can serve and meet others.  Our staff will come alongside you to help figure out which serve opportunity fits you best.  Get that process started today by texting the word fiveoaks to 555-888.  Answer a few simple questions, and we will then be in touch to help you get started.

Are you an identity amnesiac?
With so many messages telling us who we are, we need to be grounded in who God says we are. Sign up for DailyLife and get devotions designed to engage you with Scripture and help daily remind you that who you is  because of who God is. Email office@fiveoakschurch.org, to start receiving DailyLife in your email inbox.

Small groups: keeping a healthy rhythm of life
Our culture embraces busyness, and it’s hard to not get caught up in it. Even with the best intentions, we know life demands a lot of your time. You may be thinking that joining a small group will only add one more thing, one more obligation to fulfill. Instead, a small group can be a place to belong that helps bring balance and a healthier rhythm of life into your every day.  We have small groups for every life stage and schedule. If you are interested in joining a small group, please stop by the ministry cart in the Commons between services to look at the catalog of small groups.  You also may reach out to our small groups pastor, Jonathan Haage, at jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org. He can get you more info and answer questions!

Discover your part in the Story of God
Many find the Bible confusing because many don’t understand how it all fits together to tell one story. In Story of God, this 6-week experience will provide a framework for the Bible, help you read it with greater understanding, and make room for tough questions. This is a great way to connect with others in your SOG cohort, too. New classes start in February and March. Click here for the schedule of Story of God classes starting soon.

Do you have crisis management or first responder experience?
As we look to increase the presence of our Safety and Security Team at Five Oaks, we are seeking individuals with a heart and gifting for helping to keep our church safe and dealing with emergency situations. If you have this type of experience or training (law enforcement, military, first responder or crisis management), and have interest in using these skills to serve your church, please email Pam Hawley at phawley@fiveoakschurch.org,  or message her on Realm.
