When was your last date night?

Remember when dating seemed effortless? As in, before kids, sleep debt, minivans, and soccer schedules? If you can’t recall when your last date was, much less what you did on that date, mark your calendar now for a FREE Date Night at Five Oaks!

On Friday, February 15, you may drop off your kids, ages birth through grade 5, at Five Oaks, and we’ll engage them in fun, enriching activities while you and your spouse enjoy a night out alone together. Don’t have kids? Or maybe your kids are (mostly) grown? Date Night is also for you!

All couples will receive a Date Night Packet filled with date ideas, conversation starters, and quality content to help your marriage. You also have a chance of finding a Golden Ticket in your packet! (Code for: a gift card to help fund your Date Night! YES!!) You may register for this event in Realm, or click here to register.

You can bless a young family
Are you an empty nester? Or a parent of teens? Bless our young families by helping entertain Five Oaks’ youngest children during Date Night. On Friday, February 15, while these young parents get a well-deserved night out, you can look forward to games, crafts, movies, snacks and more, plus the chance to make connections with these sweet kids. We have many different types of roles available. Please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org, with your availability and she will help you find a good spot to serve.

Reach One Family Facebook Group: Want help inviting your neighbors?
Remember our Reach One Family Facebook group – the one we used for Fall Fun Fest to encourage each other with inviting others?  Check back often, as we’re continue the conversation about praying for our Parenting Journey Classes. Do you have neighbors with kids in the same phase as your kids? Or co-workers with mystifying teenagers? The dialogue we’re having on the Reach One Family Facebook group will offer encouragement, suggestions and ideas for how we invite others. Check it out today! If you still haven’t joined the Reach One Family Facebook Group, it’s not too late! Search the group on Facebook and request an invite!

Rooted Women: How do I rely on God’s wisdom?
Sometimes it’s hard to know how to do the things God calls us to. The IF: Gathering, a two-day event for women, will help you find greater freedom, peace, and reliance on our amazing God. Come join other women as they look to some of the best Bible teachers and speakers to help you on your journey. The event will be hosted in local homes on February 8-9. For more info, email women@fiveoakschurch.org.

Did your finances steal your holiday joy?
Simply having a plan in place for the future can help us enjoy today. Financial Peace University (FPU) can help you rediscover that confidence. FPU helps families grasp how God sees finances and offers practical tools to help you see a less stressful tomorrow. Class starts February 3 at 11 am and runs 10 weeks. Cost: $90; scholarships available. For more info and to register, click here.

Keeping a healthy rhythm of life
Our culture embraces busyness, and it’s hard to not get caught up in it. Even with the best intentions, we know life demands a lot of your time. You may be thinking that joining a small group will only add one more thing, one more obligation to fulfill. Instead, a small group can be a place to belong that helps bring balance and a healthier rhythm of life into your every day.  We have small groups for every life stage and schedule. If you are interested in joining a small group, please stop by the ministry cart in the Commons between services to look at the catalog of small groups.  You also may reach out to our small groups pastor, Jonathan Haage, at jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org. He can get you more info and answer questions!

Do you love to keep things ship-shape?
Are you naturally organized? Do you experience a small thrill when a task is completed? If so, we have the perfect serve opportunity for you. We’re looking for someone to help log our weekend service attendance info into Realm. Twice a month. Four hours total. A great at-home serve opportunity! We’ll provide all the training you need. For more info, please email Kelsey Vang, kvang@fiveoakschurch.org.

Discover your part in the Story of God
Many find the Bible confusing because many don’t understand how it all fits together to tell one story. In Story of God, this 6-week experience will provide a framework for the Bible, help you read it with greater understanding, and make room for tough questions. This is a great way to connect with others in your SOG cohort, too. Next class starts in February. Click here for the schedule of Story of God classes starting soon.

Do you have crisis management or first responder experience?
As we look to increase the presence of our Safety and Security Team at Five Oaks, we are seeking individuals with a heart and gifting for helping to keep our church safe and dealing with emergency situations. If you have this type of experience or training (law enforcement, military, first responder or crisis management), and have interest in using these skills to serve your church, please email Pam Hawley at phawley@fiveoakschurch.org or message her on Realm.
