Weekend of June 8+9

Small Group Nerf Guns.JPG

Bring on the fun this summer

Many of our small groups have more socials, BBQ’s and even boating or camping trips in the summer, so you can easily meet some new friends at these small group events. It’s a great time to meet some new people and enjoy the summer weather. Our small group leaders will let you know exactly what to expect for their socials, and they always know you might try another group or two before deciding. Interested in finding a group? Email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org, and he will help you start locate a group that works for your schedule.

You can ask Pastor Henry that question this weekend
If you’re new here, you may wonder how best to get connected. We have a simple first step, called Pizza with the Pastor. This one-hour lunch with Pastor Henry will allow you to ask any questions about Five Oaks and get you started connecting with others. FREE childcare and a FREE pizza and salad lunch. Sunday, June 9, after the second service. Walk-ups are welcome!

Five Oaks Kids welcomes your smile
Summer can be a busy season for families, including our regular teachers in Five Oaks Kids. If you are available to help for even 1-2 weekends, your love for Jesus will bless our team. We especially need help on Saturdays and the second Sunday service. We provide the curriculum and materials you need; you just show up and help those kids learn about Jesus! Email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org, with your availability.

Does your dad love free stuff?
When you come to church on Father’s Day weekend, cool off before and after services with a treat (or three) from the MikMart ice cream truck. Better yet: All dads get a free treat that weekend. Yes, free. (Most dads love free stuff – most dads love ice cream – everyone wins!) Join in the frivolity on June 15+16. Happy Father’s Day!

Loving your city — Dorothy Day (Impact Passport “GO” Opportunity)
Do you and your busy family want a simple way to be a blessing to the needy, while having a great time of fellowship? Come join us on July 6 from 8:30 am to 1:15 pm as we prepare and serve the noon meal at Dorothy Day. Minimum age is 13. To participate, stop by the ministry cart in the commons after the service, or contact Tim and Cindy Wiant at mailto:wiynts4@sbcglobal.net and receive a confirmation.

Last call for Middle School Camp Getaway
Middle schoolers: if you haven’t registered yet for Middle School Camp Getaway on June 27-30, put down your Bible and register now! We’ll have night games, swimming, hang time with friends, plus a time to slow down without technology and encounter God. Registration closes June 10. High schoolers can grow by serving at camp and making memories, too. Email Henry Michael, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org, with questions.

Students: Let’s party next week!
School is out – it’s officially time to play outside, sleep in, go swimming, and hang out! Join us Wednesday, June 12, 6-8 pm for our Five Oaks Students Summer Kick-off Party! We’ll have hot dogs available (free!) and snacks for purchase. Don’t miss this chance to see your friends and make new ones! Email Henry Michael, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org, with questions.

Want to join our mission? (membership)
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.”  If you have a personal relationship with Christ and have completed Story of God (the class or in your small group), make plans to come to the next membership class on June 23, 9 am, in room 102. Please RSVP by emailing Pam Hawley at phawley@fiveoakschurch.org.
