We need others to help us grow

And they need you to grow, too. Small groups are a place for spiritual growth where we are given opportunities to love and be loved as a part of God’s family. Prayerfully think about how small groups can be part of your 2020 rhythms and schedule. For more info, please stop by the ministry cart in the commons between services this weekend, and look at a small groups catalog to find one that fits your schedule and life stage. More questions? Click here to email Jonathan Haage. And remember, your joining a small group may just be what someone else in the group needs this year.

Join our mission
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.” If you are interested in learning more about membership, make plans to come to the next membership class on February 9, 9 am, in room 102. Email office@fiveoakschurch.org  to register for the class.

Men’s Summit Weekend: Final call for registrations
Sometimes we just need a breath. Take some time away from the grind, and join us at our Men’s Summit on January 24-26, to learn about what it means to be a man of God and come back more engaged with the everyday: in your family, at work, as a husband and in the church, uniquely as men in light of the gospel. Go to www.fiveoaks.church/summit to sign up. Registration closes on Monday, January 20.

Fifth grade Friday fun night
Hey fifth graders! Do you love bowling? How about all the games at PINZ? Join us for a night with friends at PINZ on January 31, 6:15-8 pm. Five Oaks is covering the cost of this event for fifth graders, so invite a friend! Spaces are limited, so please register soon by clicking here to email Kelly Bauman. Please include your name and your friend’s name in your email.

Ever wondered what those papers are for…?
Hey parents of Five Oaks Kids! Along with parenting tips and resources, when you pick up your children from class, we also give you a monthly Bible verse that you can work on with your child as well as a weekly devotional (for elementary students). We have started to reward children with small prizes for memorizing the monthly Bible verse as well as turning in a completed devotional sheet. We hope to encourage you to set aside a little bit of time each week to “train up your child in the way they should go…” Proverbs 22:6. Questions? Click here to email Kelly Bauman.

Hurricane Harvey relief – Impact Passport “go” opportunity
Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston area two-plus years ago, but many are still displaced, their homes in shambles. Bring them hope & show them the love of Christ by joining the Five Oaks team to Houston April 5-10. No special skills needed: simple cleaning to light construction work awaits. Your most important work is giving HOPE through your words & actions. Interested? Please email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.  You also may stop by the ministry cart in the commons between services for more info.

Middle schoolers: Get the summer camp early bird special!
Middle schoolers: time to start dreaming of summer camp! Middle school Summer Getaway, June 23-28, is for current 6-8th graders and is what camp should be: great food, friends, tons of games, and the lake! We’ll also have amazing speakers and worship. Act soon! If you sign up and pay a deposit before Feb. 1, you can save $50! Invite your friends! Click here for more info and to register. Questions? Email henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org.

Five Oaks Students: So many ways to get involved
Ever wanted to get involved in youth group, but maybe your schedule feels full?  We need help in several areas: weekly, monthly, or even once per semester. We’d love for you to get involved as your schedule allows! Love set-up? Clean up? Cooking or providing a meal to the youth? You can even shadow our current volunteers to see what might work for you. Click here to email Henry Michael  to get involved.

Lost and Found: Please claim what’s yours by January 19
Are you missing a winter hat? Gloves? Bible? Water bottle? Our lost and found is overflowing with blessings unwittingly left behind. If you lost something, please stop by the welcome center this weekend or next to take a gander. Please also stop by the kitchen to peruse the sizable collection of coffee vessels and water bottles. We’ll donate unclaimed items on January 19.

Women: Looking for a stronger foundation in the Bible?
The women’s evening class of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) is back at Five Oaks Church again this year, and you and your school-aged students (1st through 12th grades) are invited! We are studying “Acts and Letters of the Apostles,” an amazing study of the word of God and his work in spreading the gospel to all nations through his apostles and through us. Join us Monday evenings from 6:45 – 8:15 pm. To register or for more info, email Alisa Bell at bsf.arbell@gmail.com. You also may show up and we’ll get you plugged in!

Calling all adoptive and foster moms! Welcome to Embrace-Woodbury South! At Embrace, you’ll meet other moms who are on a similar adoption/foster journey.  You’ll experience spiritual, emotional, and practical support for adoptive, foster, and ‘waiting’ moms. We will also make time to learn more about caring for our vulnerable children, along with learning to better care for ourselves and our families. We meet in room 105 on the second Thursday of each month, 6:30-8 pm. Questions? Please email Tammy Placzek at the_plaz@comcast.net.
