Connecting through worship

As the world around us starts to open up a bit more, we want to remind you of three ways you can connect with your Five Oaks Church family for worship on the weekends:

  • Five Oaks at Home — Gather your family or roommates and worship online by clicking here. This weekend’s Five Oaks at Home will be available to view on Sunday, June 28 at 8 am, and on demand afterward.

  • Five Oaks at Home viewing party — Host a watch party at your home with your small group.

  • Gathering Again — Join us for in-person worship on Sundays at 11 am, starting July 5. Current regulations from Governor Walz allow us to worship with a maximum of 150 in our building at this time. More details regarding CDC guidelines and the procedures we’ll follow, as well as our Preparedness Plan, are available by clicking here. RSVP’s for the July 5 service will be open on June 30 at 10 am through a link in Realm. Look for a post in Realm reminding you of this RSVP on Monday!

Five Oaks Students! Welcome back open houses on June 27 — that’s this Saturday!
After so many months apart, we can’t wait to see our high school friends again! Join us for our Open House/Summer Kick-off in the Five Oaks backyard on June 27. Middle schoolers: join us from 12-3 pm. High schoolers, join us from 6-9 pm. Games, snacks and a bonfire (we’re not serving lunch or dinner, so don’t arrive STARVING!) Feel free to bring a friend! Questions? Please email Henry Michael, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org.

Ways you can help
Our urban churches and for our global Impact partners in Haiti, Cuba and Jordan are experiencing tremendous need, and many of them were living “on the edge” before the pandemic. Eighty percent unemployment rates is not unusual both in their churches and communities. Add to that the recent unrest in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and it’s even more important for us as the church to love our city and our world.

You may be wondering what you can do to get involved from your corner of the world. This summer we’re offering three simple ways you can jump in:

• with our urban partners
• with our global partners
• with our missionaries

Whether you want to donate or volunteer, several of these opportunities put you in direct contact with people  who have specific needs and are often facing oppression or being marginalized in the midst of these crises. As you develop friendships with these people, you see their perspective and gain understanding.

Click here for more information on three ways you can safely get involved this summer.

Missionaries need temporary summer housing
Do you, or someone you know, have a furnished apartment or mother-in-law suite available to lease this summer? We recently received a request from a couple who needs to return on short notice from their mission work in Asia. If you know of anything that can help these long-time missionaries, please contact office@fiveoakschurch.org.

Prayer works
As you move through your day, you likely have prayers and praises on your mind. We'd love to be able to pray and praise alongside you, from our homes to yours. We have volunteers, elders and staff who pray through your prayer requests throughout the week. Please click here to get started sharing what's on your mind.
