December 23+24

Merry Christmas! You’re invited!

Join us for Christmas worship where you'll have a chance to slow down and soak in the beauty of the season and the story of our Savior's birth. We'll have programing for your kids up through pre-K in Five Oaks Kids. Enjoy our hot cocoa bar and refreshments between services. We look forward to seeing you and your family!

Reminder: Worship on-demand only this weekend
Join us for on-demand worship this weekend on Sunday, December 26. The worship video will be available anytime after 8 am by clicking here.

Story of God: The Bible tells one story
Understanding the Bible can be difficult, but we believe understanding the Bible doesn’t have to be a mystery. Join one of our 6-week Story of God classes starting in 2022 and understand the one story the Bible is telling. Whether you are new to the Bible or seminary-trained, this class will bring new insight and more importantly more confidence as you approach reading the Bible. Register here. Questions? Email Peg Benson.

Fun with our youngest Five Oakers
In Five Oaks Kids we mix learning and fun for every age as we partner with parents in doing ministry together. Each service includes a time of worship, lesson, discussion, prayer and fellowship. Our staff does the prep work ahead of time to help our volunteers to focus on connecting with kids! If you’d like to make friends with our youngest Five Oakers in the new year, our greatest need is with our elementary kids at the 10:45 am service. Once a month is incredibly helpful. Interested? Email Kelly Bauman.

Join us for an important conversation around technology and students
Our kids and students are growing up in a highly connected world. It’s inevitable that their tech-savvy will “pass by” that of their parents before they get to high school. And as the adults in their lives, it can feel like we’re on a hamster wheel trying to keep up with the latest platform, social media outlet, or other technology distraction. Join us on January 10, 6-9 pm as we navigate this disconnect with a screening of Childhood 2.0, a documentary about the effects of technology on our kids. If you’re a parent, aunt or uncle, grandparent, or concerned adult, we invite you to this event. We want to equip you to think critically about what kids are exposed to and how to frame these important conversations. Dinner included! Register here by January 3.

Small groups: Register now to connect in January
As we all scurry through this wonderfully busy time of year, take a moment to look ahead to January. If you’re not currently in a small group, now is the time to start the process of finding a group that works for your life stage and schedule. Not only is January a time for new rhythms, but also in January we’ll be returning to our Christian Sexuality curriculum and sermon series. A small group is a great place to process this content, ask questions, and engage in rich discussions around these topics. Interested? Start the process of connecting with a small group here.

Looking for peace when it comes to finances?
Finances can be stressful. But even when they are not, we all want to use our money wisely. And ideally, we want to use our resources as best we can to be a blessing to those around us. Join Financial Peace University, a class hosted at Five Oaks starting January 16 that looks at financial principles found in the Bible to help you and your family be good stewards and be a blessing to others. More info here.

Save the date for Middle School Meltdown
Your middle schooler is invited to join us for a weekend at Camp Forest Springs in Westboro, WI, February 18-20, 2022. Students can look forward to snow tubing, downhill and cross-country skiing, plus some solid Bible teaching and time hanging out with friends old and new. Register on Realm. Questions? Email Kyler Albert.

Looking for a summer internship?
Now is the time to be thinking and planning for a summer internship! If you’re a senior in high school or a college student, please consider applying to be our Impact intern this summer. It’s a great opportunity to get hands-on experience working in various ministry opportunities, connecting with resources for careers in global ministry, and experiencing a short term mission trip (scholarship included!). If you’re interested, or just want to get more information, email Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Ever heard of our DailyLife devotional?
Did you know that Five Oaks has a daily devotional, written and edited by volunteers at Five Oaks, that is based on our weekly sermons? Each devotional includes time of prayer, scripture reading, and reflection. It’s a great way to dive deeper into the content from the sermon the weekend before, and it’s a great supplement to what you may already use for quiet time.

You may have this devotional delivered to your email inbox every Monday through Friday by clicking here to subscribe. Our DailyLife is now available via podcast as well. The link to the podcast will appear in your DailyLife email each morning.

If you have a talent for writing that you could lend to this team, or if you’re gifted with editing, or if you have a solid voice for radio, we’d love to talk to you about joining our DailyLife Team! Email Danny Martin for more info.

Men: Mark your calendar for our annual summit
Guys, we all need time away to recharge and reflect on what’s most important. Join our annual men’s summit on January 21-23 for a chance to recharge and refuel your relationship with God. There will be time for rest and recreation, outside and inside fun! And you won’t want to miss our Polish Pong tradition, either! Early-bird discount! $20 off if you register by December 31.

Winter fun for adults
Pickleball has been a great way for our staff and community to stay active and connected, especially during winter. And we have so many opportunities for you to choose from. We have 55+ pickleball on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3:30 pm. We have women’s pickleball on Friday nights at 6 pm. And we have early morning pickleball at 6, 7, and 8am on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well! Stay active and connected by putting a pickleball rhythm in your winter schedule. For more info, email Jonathan Haage.

In sympathy

Please join us in prayer as we lift up Joe and Diane Pittman. They are mourning the loss of Joe’s mom, Carol Pittman. Carol was a Five Oaker for many years. Her funeral will be held at Five Oaks Church on Tuesday, December 28 at 11 am, visitation at 10 am.
