Any easy way to support foster families

Foster parenting shows profound compassion to vulnerable children, but foster parenting is hard! You and your family can make foster parents’ lives a little easier by providing gift cards for items required by foster families, joining a meal team (commitment of one hour every other month), and many other ways. Your help directly benefits the poor and marginalized. Stop by the table in the Commons this weekend between services, or click here to email Kevin Johnson about getting connected.

Remember Hope Academy in Minneapolis? They are carrying hope to the city by providing a remarkable education to inner-city students. You have the opportunity to visit Hope Academy and meet that student on Partner Day, Thursday September 30. Interested? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Volunteer once or every Wednesday with Five Oaks Students
Five Oaks Students is a growing ministry! With many students involved, and many enthusiastic and engaging adults serving, we find that we need more folks like you to jump in and help shape the lives of our students! From weekly Wednesday night roles, such as small group leaders, tech team, snack team and more, to a one-time role serving at our fall campout, we’d love to help you find a role that fits your talents. Questions? Email Henry Michael, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org.

Calling all middle and high school students!
Last weekend, Pastor Henry highlighted how serving in the church can help lead to resilient faith in young adults. Serving in Five Oaks Kids can help young adults feel more connected to the church and valued by giving of their time and talents, plus they’ll make new friends. Your student could choose which age group they would like to serve with, or help with worship if that is on their heart! If you have a student who is able to serve, please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

Do you love to write or edit? We need your talents!
Do you love shepherding others and glorifying God through the written word? Do you have a collection of red markup pens always at the ready? Or have you simply been blessed by our DailyLife devotionals and would like to be a blessing in turn? If so, we invite you to write or edit as a member of our DailyLife devotional team! For more information, email Danny Martin at dmartin@fiveoakschurch.org.

Family ministry launch event: Important updates from each of our ministries

Join us on September 1, 7-8:30 pm.

We’re getting ready to kick off a great year of ministry, and we want to give you a sneak peek into all that lies ahead for your family. At this year’s Family Ministry Launch Event, you’ll experience three things to help you prepare for the coming year of Family Ministry at Five Oaks:

  • You’ll receive materials and a calendar full of key dates and details.

  • You’ll hear from each of our ministry leaders about what’s new and what to expect in their ministries.

  • Lastly, for the first time ever, we’re going to preview a powerful sermon series we will experience this year in our weekend services and in our student ministry.

Oh - and we'll have childcare available - and ice cream and other frozen treats for all involved! Click here for more info and to register.

Soon-to-be ninth graders: Join us for a high school-only bonfire
Hey families with incoming ninth graders! Your student is invited to a high school-only bonfire at church, August 25, 7-9 pm. We’ll meet in the backyard at church for casual fun and worship time together. This is a key event for the next group of ninth graders to attend as they seek to get launched into a whole new environment and phase of their story. It’s also a great time for your student to invite friends to youth group! Questions? Email Henry Michael, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org.

Village Schools of the Bible is back!
The Bible tells one story, and we help our community see that in a six-week class called the Story of God. But, there is an incredible way to go deeper, and it’s a class called Village Schools of the Bible. This class will look at the one story from Genesis to Revelation and dig into it thoroughly over the ministry year from September through May. We will be hosting it at the church on Tuesday evenings starting this September. For more information, go to fiveoaks.church/village.
