Join us: Ministry opportunities for everyone in your family this year
We’re getting ready to kick off a great year of ministry, and we want to give you a sneak peek into all that lies ahead for your family. At Wednesday’s Family Ministry Launch Event, you’ll experience three things to help you prepare for the coming year of Family Ministry at Five Oaks:
1. You’ll receive materials and a calendar full of key dates and details.
2. You’ll hear from our ministry leaders about what’s new and what to expect in each of our family ministries.
3. For the first time ever, we’re going to preview a powerful sermon series we will experience this year in our weekend services and in our student ministry.
We’ll have child care available, and we’ve got ice cream and frozen treats for everyone! Don’t miss out! Join us on September 1, 7:00-8:30 pm. Click here to register. See you Wednesday eve!
Ladies: Fall events start soon – register now!
This fall in women’s ministry, we’re offering opportunities for many different schedules and commitment levels: Bible studies on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings, our monthly TABLE on a Tuesday evening or a Wednesday morning, and our newest ministry, called Connect 4. This is an opportunity to meet in a group of four women to chat and share some coffee, dessert, or even a walk. Register by September 1 for studies, Connect 4 and the September TABLE! Go to www.fiveoaks.church/women for more info and registration links.
Students: Join us as we kick off our ministry year on September 8
Summer is nearly in the rearview mirror, and we’re excited to get together with all of our middle and high schoolers again for another exciting year of ministry! Join us on Wednesday nights – middle schoolers from 6-7:30 pm, and high schoolers from 7:30-9 pm, starting on September 8. You can expect time of worship, some fun and interactive group games, Bible teaching, and time in small groups to discuss the topic each week. Questions? Email Kyler Albert, kalbert@fiveoakschurch.org.
Calling all middle and high school students!
Pastor Henry highlighted in a recent sermon how serving in the church can help lead to resilient faith in young adults. Serving in Five Oaks Kids can help young adults feel more connected to the church and valued by giving of their time and talents, plus they’ll make new friends. Your student could choose which age group they would like to serve with, or help with worship if that is on their heart! If you have a student who is able to serve, please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.
Hearts and Hammers (Impact Passport “Set” Opportunity)
What if you knew your home and yard needed serious attention, but, because of your age or physical limitations, you could do nothing about it? Frustrating and heartbreaking, right? But YOU can both meet and help a family in this situation by participating in our Hearts and Hammers event, September 18, at 7:45 am. Join us as we paint, landscape, and demonstrate the love of Jesus. No special skills are required, and ages 12 and up are welcome. Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org to receive a registration link.
An easy way to support foster families
Foster parenting shows profound compassion to vulnerable children, but foster parenting is hard! You and your family can make foster parents’ lives a little easier by providing gift cards for items required by foster families, joining a meal team (commitment of one hour every other month), and many other ways. Your help directly benefits the poor and marginalized. Stop by the table in the Commons this weekend between services, or click here to email Kevin Johnson about getting connected.
Your chance to visit Hope Academy and meet our student!
Remember Hope Academy in Minneapolis? They are carrying hope to the city by providing a remarkable education to inner-city students. A portion of your BLESS campaign contributions is providing tuition for one student at Hope Academy. You have the opportunity to visit Hope Academy and meet that student on Partner Day, Thursday September 30. Interested? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
Volunteer once or every Wednesday with Five Oaks Students
Five Oaks Students is a growing ministry! With many students involved, and many enthusiastic and engaging adults serving, we find that we need more folks like you to jump in and help shape the lives of our students! From weekly Wednesday night roles, such as small group leaders, tech team, snack team and more, to a one-time role serving at our fall campout, we’d love to help you find a role that fits your talents. Questions? Email Henry Michael, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org.
Want to join our mission?
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, I want to be part of the mission of this local church.” If you have a personal relationship with Christ, and you have completed the Story of God Class (either in your small group or at one of our classes), we would love to have you join us for our membership class on September 19 at 10:45 in room 101. To register, click here.
Do you love to write or edit? We need your talents!
Do you love shepherding others and glorifying God through the written word? Do you have a collection of red markup pens always at the ready? Or have you simply been blessed by our DailyLife devotionals and would like to be a blessing in turn? If so, we invite you to write or edit as a member of our DailyLife devotional team! For more information, email Danny Martin at dmartin@fiveoakschurch.org.
Story of God classes begin this fall — register now!
The Story of God will give you an overview of the entire Bible. The class will give you an opportunity to ask big questions about Scripture and help you lean into the story that God has for your life. Come join one of our 6-week classes starting up in September and October. Click here for more info and to register.
Village Schools of the Bible is back!
The Bible tells one story, and we help our community see that in a six-week class called the Story of God. But, there is an incredible way to go deeper, and it’s a class called Village Schools of the Bible. This class will look at the one story from Genesis to Revelation and dig into it thoroughly over the ministry year from September through May. We will be hosting it at the church on Tuesday evenings starting this September. For more information, go to fiveoaks.church/village.
