Weekend of December 4+5

How would you like to be a Christmas blessing?

We’re looking forward to seeing you and your family at our Christmas services. We’ll have five services over two days: December 23 at 4:30 and 6:00 pm, and December 24 at 1:30, 3:00 and 4:30 pm. As you make plans for worship, please also consider blessing all of our visitors and those who are new to Five Oaks by sharing your talents and gifts at a different worship service time. We’ll have serving openings in Five Oaks Kids, ushering, greeting, coffee and cocoa bar, providing treats for volunteers and many more areas. Interested? Sign up here to serve in Five Oaks Kids. Sign up here to serve in Connections.

Ladies: Last call to register for Reindeer Games on December 9
Remember how fun Christmas was as a kid? Games of Monopoly and Life with your siblings, that giant tin of three different kinds of popcorn, the comfort of a warm cocoa after playing in the snow, the wonder of opening that first gift. You do so much to make Christmas special for others. Recapture that carefree spirit and fill up your Merry Meter with friends, fun and food at The Warm & Cozy Reindeer Games. Join us on Thursday, December 9, 6:30-9 pm at Five Oaks. Register here.

Make meaningful memories this Advent season
Staying focused on Jesus during the chaotic Christmas season can be challenging. Join us as we shine his light this season at our Advent services on December 5, 12 and 19 at 4:30 pm. Each week we’ll cover the major themes of Advent: Hope, Peace and Love, focusing on how we can keep Jesus at the center of Christmas and into the months beyond Advent. Every service is short and family-friendly, and we’ll have activities for the whole family following each one. Bring your neighbors and take a break from the hustle of holiday preparations!

Students: Help us bless our KidsHope friends
Join us on December 8
as both the middle and high schoolers will bless Kids Hope USA students from Woodbury Elementary with gifts made and gathered that tell them they are special and amazing! Middle schoolers will help create gifts, and high schoolers will go in teams to buy gifts for these kids. All students need to bring $5 and wear their best Christmas attire! It will be a full night – don’t be late! Questions? Email Kyler Albert. Also, note that our final youth group for 2021 will be on December 15!

Help spread Christmas cheer in Woodbury!
In the commons this weekend, you’ll see our Kids Hope Giving Tree with gift tags hanging on it. This is a simple way to bless the Kids Hope students we mentor at Woodbury Elementary as well as their families with Christmas gifts. Stop by the Giving Tree to grab a tag with an item on it. You may  shop for that item/gift card & bring it back, wrapped, by December 12! Email khusa@fiveoakschurch.org with any questions.

Your old shoes can make a difference!
Got a pile of shoes you don’t need or wear? Bring them to the commons starting December 4 because we’re partnering with Shoe Away Hunger. For every one pair of new or gently-used footwear received, the Shoe Away Hunger program is able to feed one more person with up to seven days of essential groceries through their Feeding The Future programs. For more information email Dave at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Winning the war in your mind (Journeymen)
Starting December 11,
our men’s ministry will be starting a series called “Winning the War in Your Mind” by renowned pastor and author, Craig Groeschel. Pastor Craig says this: “Are your thoughts out of control, just like your life? Do you long to break free from the spiral of destructive thinking? Let God’s truth become your battle plan to win the war in your mind!” You will not want to miss this series!
Email Journeymen to get a registration link.

Join our mission (membership)
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.” If you have a personal relationship with Christ and have completed Story of God (the class or in your small group), make plans to come to the next membership class on December 12, 10:45am, in room 105. You may register for the class by clicking here. If you have further questions, please email Pam Hawley at phawley@fiveoakschurch.org.

Ever heard of our DailyLife devotional?
Did you know that Five Oaks has a daily devotional, written and edited by volunteers at Five Oaks, that is based on our weekly sermons? Each devotional includes time of prayer, scripture reading, and reflection. It’s a great way to dive deeper into the content from the sermon the weekend before, and it’s a great supplement to what you may already use for quiet time.

You may have this devotional delivered to your email inbox every Monday through Friday by clicking here to subscribe. AND, starting Monday, December 6, you may listen to our DailyLife via podcast as well. The link to the podcast will appear in your DailyLife email each morning.

If you have a talent for writing that you could lend to this team, or if you’re gifted with editing, or if you have a solid voice for radio, we’d love to talk to you about joining our DailyLife Team! Email Danny Martin for more info.

And we have early morning pickleball at 6, 7, and 8am on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well! Stay active and connected by putting a pickleball rhythm in your winter schedule.
