Weekend of July 17+18

FCA Camp: kids played hard and want to come back next year

Last week Five Oaks opened its doors to nearly 80 kids, grades 3-7, who played hard and learned how their faith in God can interact with all areas of their lives. These kids enjoyed ultimate frisbee, pickleball, futsal and obstacle courses, among other things. They learned that, as it says in 2 Timothy 2, that they should pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace in all they do. Kids each took home their own FCA Bible at the end of the week as well. This weekend we’re celebrating all the wins from FCA Camp!

Putting the unreached within reach
Some of you may have heard about unreached people groups and the 10-40 window. Last week you heard about Global Fingerprints and the simple ways you can partner with them in reaching the unreached and planting churches in places like Indonesia, Myanmar, India, and Vietnam – through simply sponsoring a child. You can still sponsor a child in one of these countries, and it is easy! Just come to the Global Fingerprints table in the Commons after the service this weekend!

Village Schools of the Bible is back!
The Bible tells one story and we help our community see that in a six week class called the Story of God. But, there is an incredible way to go deeper, called Village Schools of the Bible. This class will look at the one story from Genesis to Revelation and go thoroughly through it over the ministry year from September through May. We will be hosting it at the church on Tuesday evenings starting this September.

Please Pray for our high school mission trip this week
Five Oaks is hosting APEX teams ministering to our city. Last week we hosted other local churches, and this week it will be Five Oaks Students housed here while they serve alongside local ministry partners, building lasting relationships, and go through leadership training. As students use our building as a home base, please join us in praying for the impact of their serving, for health and safety, and that they will gel together and create lasting friendships.

An easy way to serve
Do you have a heart for kids and desire to help but aren’t sure you are ready to serve in a classroom? Each week we are looking for volunteers to greet parents, help check in their children and hang out in the hallway in case of an emergency. If that is something you think you might be available to help with, contact Kelly Bauman at kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

“Go Into All the World,  and take your job with you” —  IT opening in Vietnam
From one of our Impact partners: “Our recruiting firm recently opened an office in Hanoi and quickly partnered with a like-minded company in the country, a fast-growing IT company with an intentionally run management team. They are located in Da Nang and asked us to help them find an intentional leader to expand their team.” Interested? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org for more info.

Ladies: mark your calendar for fun and fellowship
Women’s ministry is looking forward to moving back to full programming in the fall, both in the building and in each other’s homes. Join us for an evening of fellowship, food and re-connection as we gather at church to learn more about the exciting fall ministry events that our leadership team is planning. August 5, starting at 7 pm. More details to come. Questions? Contact Kathleen Miller, skmiller90@gmail.com.

Your willing hands and smile will go a long way this summer
Many of our regular Five Oaks Kids volunteers have travel plans this summer, which means we’d love any help you can offer up on any given weekend. Our staff does most of the teaching, but we’d love your help to just have fun with the kids, help them with crafts, games, and group discussions. Interested? Click here to access our volunteer openings.

Will you add a couple of items to your grocery store run?
Could you and your family provide a store-bought meal once per month to a foster family in Washington County? We are looking for extra help with our Five Oaks Foster Family Meal Team. Your willingness to pick up and drop off an easy-prep meal for a foster family helps provide a basic need to these families who are standing in the gap for vulnerable children. Interested in this simple, once-per-month way to show the love of Christ to others? Text Juli Servatius at 651-206-9034 or email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

In sympathy
Please join us as we pray for Chris and Peg Benson and family as they mourn the loss of Peg’s mom, Judy Haroldson.
