Many wins from our mission trip!
Over the past two weeks, Five Oaks hosted two Apex Missions groups of high school students who were staying at our church and doing mission work in the Twin Cities. These groups learned, served, and grew tremendously as they were pushed out of their comfort zone. Some of their highlights included loving kids, serving the poor, and being exposed to some amazing ministries. Our own Five Oaks high school ministry just finished their APEX week. Each of the 26 students grew a ton! Not only did they do an amazing job adapting and serving, but also they grew closer together, excited to live on mission the rest of the year. We’re celebrating all of these victories this weekend at Five Oaks!
Ladies: Our preview event is this Thursday!
Women’s ministry is looking forward to moving back to full programming in the fall, both in the building and in each other’s homes. Join us for an evening of fellowship, food and re-connection, August 5 at 7 pm, as we gather at church to learn more about the exciting fall ministry events that our leadership team is planning. This is a great time to invite a neighbor or friend who is new to Five Oaks. Want to attend or have questions? Contact Kathleen Miller, skmiller90@gmail.com.
Students: Late summer bash is rescheduled to this Wednesday
Hey middle schoolers and high schoolers! We moved this bash out one week due to power failure at church last week. Join us this Wednesday at church for games, snacks, and hang time with friends. This is our last official event with our graduating seniors! Wear clothes that are can get dirty! Hope to see you there – August 4, 7-9 pm. Questions? Email Henry Michael, henrymw@fiveoakschurch.org.
Incoming sixth graders: Join us at youth group
Hey families with incoming sixth graders! Your student is invited to a middle school-only bonfire at church, August 11, 7-9 pm. We’ll meet in the backyard at church for casual fun and worship time together. This is a key event for the next group of 6th graders to attend as they seek to get launched into a whole new environment and phase of their story. It’s also a great time for your student to invite friends to youth group! Questions? Email Kyler Albert, kalbert@fiveoakschurch.org.
A store-bought meal can bridge an important gap
Would you like a simple way to help a foster family in Washington County? Simply purchase a store-bought ready-to-prepare meal and deliver it to a foster family about once per month. What starts out as a simple drop-off gesture can be a gateway for new friendships and possibly even some meaningful conversations down the road. Interested in more info or getting involved? Text Juli Servatius at 651-206-9034 or email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
Families of Five Oaks Kids: Fill out our survey this weekend! (Or even today!)
We are knee-deep in planning for the fall and the re-launch of Five Oaks Kids. As we consider what that might look like, we’re asking you to spend some time in prayer, thinking how you might use your strengths to assist in Five Oaks Kids. Stop by the ministry cart in the Commons this weekend to fill out our brief survey. (You also can click here to access the survey from home.) Your responses will help us create the best experience possible in Five Oaks Kids this fall. Questions? Email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.
“Go Into All the World, and take your job with you” — IT opening in Vietnam
From one of our Impact partners: “Our recruiting firm recently opened an office in Hanoi and quickly partnered with a like-minded company in the country, a fast-growing IT company with an intentionally run management team. They are located in Da Nang and asked us to help them find an intentional leader to expand their team.” Interested? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org for more info.
