Making a difference - made easy
Guess how many ways there are to serve at Five Oaks? Over 30! Some of our lesser-known serve options include photography, helping with seasonal decor, writing or editing for DailyLife, helping launch our livestream, and helping to prepare communion, to name a few. For a complete list of all the ways you can volunteer, go to www.fiveoaks.church/serve and check it out. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the options and ways you can make a difference, both in our building and at home, options in the heart of the action as well as many behind-the-scenes opportunities. You'll learn more this weekend, but your getting involved will make a difference in the life of our church and a difference in connecting you to our community. Membership class this Sunday — last call to register!
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.” If you have a personal relationship with Christ and you have completed Story of God (the class or in your small group), we would love to have you join us for this VIRTUAL membership class on Sunday, March 28, from 11 am to noon. Last call for high school summer opportunities!
By the end of the summer, your high schooler could have a new heart for discipleship and leading simply by joining us for either or both of our summer events: 1. Student leader at middle school summer camp; 2. APEX Mission trip in Minneapolis. Registration/application for these closes April 14 (middle school camp) and April 1 (mission trip). New Story of God class starts in April
Due to a piqued interest in Story of God classes, we’ve added another class this spring! The Story of God will give you an overview of the entire Bible. The class will provide opportunities to ask big questions about Scripture and help you lean into the story that God has for your life. Join our 6-week in-person class starting on April 11! $15 Global 6k registration discount – bring your friends!
Our goal is for 30 percent of our Global 6K Team to be from outside of Five Oaks. Inviting friends to join you is an easy way to show them what’s important to you, and your participation keeps children from missing school and dying from dirty water. The Global 6k is May 22 at 8 or 10 am at Colby Lake Park. Each registration provides lasting clean water for one person FOR LIFE. Middle school Camp Getaway June 8-13
It’s never too early to think about summer camp! Our goal is to have a blast this summer, and we don’t want you to miss out! At camp, you’ll learn about Jesus, his gospel and how it impacts your story. We’ll have loads of fun, create lasting memories, make and deepen friendships, and have an action-packed week for six days at Camp Arrowhead! We are identity amnesiacs. We forget who we are and we need to be reminded of who God says we are. Come join an IF:Gathering Experience at Five Oaks as we take the top talks of the IF:Gathering into a four-week small group on Saturdays, during our worship service, April 10-May 1. Our online worship services are the front door for many who are checking out Five Oaks. Fun in the Sun Carnival – invite your friends!
Looking for a bit of spring family fun? We know it’ll be warm and sunny at our Fun in the Sun Carnival on April 17, 10 am-noon. This event is aimed at kids fifth grade and younger and includes games, activities, and lots of fun with friends. We’d also love help from anyone middle school age and up, and – bonus – free lunch for volunteers after the event! Pre-registration is required. Interested in attending or serving?
