Marvel at Mystery Island: A morning of mini-VBS

Did your kids miss that fun VBS atmosphere last summer? Join us for a morning filled with all the trappings of VBS: Learning about our one true God through crafts, science, snack, worship, large group time, and gym time. March 20, 10 am-12 pm. This event is open to potty-trained kids who turned 3 by September 1, 2020, through current third graders. $10/child, but parent volunteers may bring their kids for free! Register your kids in Realm by clicking here. We’d also love help from your older kids, ages 11+. Want to volunteer for this event? Please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

This summer could be a game-changer for your high schooler

What if, by the end of the summer, your high schooler developed a heart for discipleship and serving others? We have two opportunities for high schoolers that will do just that for them, all while making memories and making a difference. 1. Join us as a student leader at Middle School Camp Getaway, June 8-13. High schoolers will lead in activities, lead in cabins, and assist the adult leaders to make Camp Getaway a high-impact week for middle schoolers. 2. Join our APEX mission trip in Minneapolis this summer. This is a chance to peel back the layers of need in our own backyard and watch our high schoolers develop leadership and discipleship rhythms, rhythms that will spill into their young adult lives. Details & registration for both events are in Realm.

Lent services: Invited-encounters with Jesus
The gospels are filled with life-changing encounters with Jesus. They’re more than just stories. They point us to his divine nature and teach who he is and who we are in the story of God. God’s Word is an invitation for us to encounter the living God again and again. Join us for Lent services Thursdays, 7-8 pm, through March 25, in-person or online. We’ll  look to scripture and dive into an encounter with Jesus, followed by guided conversation around the fire in the Acorn Commons. Childcare provided. Click here to register your nursery/pre-K aged kids for childcare. Click here to register your elementary kids for childcare.

Help our Texas Churches Bring Hope in Crisis
Many of our churches in Texas are seeking to bring hope to those in their communities suffering from the devastating effects of the recent winter storms. If you'd like to help, please send your check to 'Five Oaks' and put 'Crisis Response 3928' on the Memo line. If using Five Oaks online giving for this purpose send an email to impact@fiveoakschurch.org about the amount of your gift for the Texas crisis.

Middle school: Camp Getaway June 8-13
It’s never too early to think about summer camp!  Our goal is to have a blast this summer, and we don’t want you to miss out! At camp, you’ll learn about Jesus, his gospel and how it impacts your story. We’ll have loads of fun, create lasting memories, make and deepen friendships, and have an action-packed week for six days at Camp Arrowhead! Sign up and watch last camp’s highlight video on Realm! Questions? Please email Kyler Albert, kalbert@fiveoakschurch.org.

Global 6K for Water: Early registration discount!
Did you know that 1000 kids die each day due to lack of clean water? What’s worse, kids often walk 3+ miles each day to access dirty water, the only water they can find. You can help simply by joining our second annual Team World Vision Global 6K for Water at Colby Lake Park on May 22. You can run, walk, push a stroller, bring your friends or family. Your registration fee provides clean water for one person for life. Go to fiveoaks.church/global-6k now, use the promo code ‘fiveoaks’ to register, and get a $10 discount.

Baptism: an important step in our faith journey at any age
Baptism is an important part of our journey in following Jesus. Jesus modeled it by being baptized himself and it’s a way to say to God and his family, “I’m all in for Jesus!” Our next baptism weekend is coming up on March 20+21. If you would like to explore taking the step of baptism, please email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org. We hope to talk with you soon!

Small child, big task
We believe that life with God is meant to be a family thing. Nobody has a greater potential to impact a child’s spiritual development than their parents! We’d like to help equip you for your journey ahead. If you’re interested in having your child dedicated, we’d love to meet with you and share encouragement and some materials. Our next dedication weekend will be April 10 + 11. If you are interested in family dedication, please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

You can bless our middle and high schoolers
Ever wanted to serve Five Oaks Students but didn’t think you had the time? Well, you may serve in areas weekly, monthly, or just once a semester! Each week we have people who serve by setting up the building, serving snacks, and helping clean up. No matter what your strengths are, there is a place for you. If you’re not sure what it looks like, there are even opportunities to shadow volunteers and help with special events. To get involved, contact Kyler Albert, kalbert@fiveoakschurch.org.

Ladies: Join us for an IF:Gathering Experience
We are identity amnesiacs. We forget who we are and we need to be reminded of who God says we are. Ladies, come be reminded of who you are and what that means for the incredible future impact you can make in this world. Come join an IF:Gathering Experience at Five Oaks as we take the top talks of the IF:Gathering into a four-week small group on Saturdays, during our worship service, April 10-May 1. If you’d like more info, go to www.fiveoaks.church/IF-gathering.

More open gym time slots available!
Due to the over-the-top participation and enthusiasm for our open gym time during Four Weeks of Fun, we are excited to share with you that we’re extending open gym hours through the end of April. (Let’s face it: winter is far from over!) You may click here to find the time slots that fit your family’s schedule. See you in the gym!

Serving our online congregation
Many Five Oakers access our worship services via our livestream, as do many first-time visitors. Our livestream is in many ways the “front door” of our church. It’s what helps people want to be part of our church family. You can help serve our online congregation by joining us in our “online HQ” to either help host the online chat or help run sound. We’ll provide training and support. For more info, please email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org.

We’d love to see your smile!
As we move toward “near-normal” in Five Oaks Kids (yay for 3 worship services again!), we are looking for a few friendly faces to greet new and existing families with Five Oaks and help them get checked in when they arrive. We always need more people in classrooms, but we also would love more people willing to greet as well. If that idea feels appealing to you, please write “Greeting with Five Oaks Kids” on your communication card. Questions about serving? Please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.
