Fall Camp Getaway: More than just a load of fun
Highlight: Camp Getaway Celebration
A couple weekends ago our high schoolers enjoyed one of our longest-standing traditions of fall: Camp Getaway! With over 35 students and 15 volunteers, we had a fantastic weekend of dance parties, games, skits, and learning more about God's story. Each camp requires a ton of people pouring time and energy into the weekend to provide a seamless experience for our students! A huge thank you to Pastor Henry for speaking, Mike Selbitschka for organizing meals, Kyler Albert for running activities, and Jared Doran for a great highlight video! Although the weekend goes fast, God plants important seeds in the hearts of our young people and their friends while at camp. We give him the glory for these signposts in our students’ faith journey.
Join us at the Congregational Meeting — this Sunday!
We’ll start with a time of worship followed by a short business meeting and some vision from Pastor Henry and our leadership team of where we’re headed in the next ministry year. We’ll vote on elder and governing board candidates too. (Five Oaks members may vote, but all members and regular attenders are invited to attend and participate in discussion.) We’re also looking forward to a time of fellowship and food/refreshment following. Sunday, November 7, 4 pm. Childcare is available for all kids up through grade 5. Register your kids, read candidate bios and preview the meeting agenda and documents by clicking here.
UGM Thanksgiving Bag Donations (Impact Passport “Ready” & “Set” Opportunities)
Last year, you helped to provide 257 Thanksgiving bags to families in need! We’re hoping to bless even more families in need this year, partnering with UGM. It only costs $25 to provide a Thanksgiving bag to one family in need! $50 for two, and so on. Our goal this year is to raise enough money to provide 275 bags! Let’s do this! You may donate, and find other ways to help, by going to www.fiveoaks.church/ugm. Questions? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
DailyLife devotional writers needed!
Do you have a writing talent you’d like to use to shepherd others and glorify God? Are your red markup pens always at the ready? Or have you simply been blessed by our DailyLife Devotionals and would like to be a blessing in turn? If so, we invite you to write for our DailyLife Devotional team! Interested? Email Danny Martin.
Reality Conference for high schoolers
This conference will help students better understand why we believe what we do and in turn be able to discuss their beliefs when challenged. Conference is at Grace Church, Eden Prairie, on November 12+13. More info and registration here.
Are you friendly? Five Oaks Kids need greeters!
Have you thought about serving with Five Oaks Kids, but the idea of helping in the classroom felt overwhelming? Right now we have new families exploring Five Oaks, and we know we could use your help with greeting before services in our ministry. This is an easy and fun way to make a difference. We especially need extra help on Saturdays at 4:30 or Sundays at 10:45. If you are interested in greeting for Five Oaks Kids, possibly once a month, please email Kelly Bauman.
Job opportunities with our Impact Partners
