Weekend of April 23+24

World Vision Global 6K: We’d love your help
As the Global 6K for Clean Water approaches on May 14, we’d love your hands, feet and smile to make this event a success for both the communities across the world in need of clean water, and for all of the families participating in the event. We’re expecting lots of non-Five Oakers to walk, run, and stroll that day, some of whom have no idea how amazing the people of Five Oaks are. Let’s welcome all who show up that day! We’d love your help with set-up, tear-down, snack table, to name a few. Interested in helping out? (By the way, YES! You can volunteer to help AND walk or run the 6K!) Find a volunteer spot here.

Help the world read God’s Word: Sign up for the 12-Verse Challenge
What would your life look like if you didn’t have access to a Bible? For over 3800 language groups across the globe, this is their daily reality. Through the 12VC initiative, 11 of the leading Bible translation agencies are working together to translate and deliver scriptures to all people. The end of this effort is in sight and Five Oaks is partnering with 12VC to accelerate the timeline. To learn more about how you can help, take a card on your way out after the service this weekend! You also can help us reach our Five Oaks goal of funding 286 verses here.

Ladies: Last call for the spiritual gifts workshop!
The best way to serve others is when it comes from a place of pure joy. By serving in a spot that maximizes your spiritual gift, we often find that serving doesn’t feel like serving. Ladies, join us for our Spiritual Gift workshop, April 30, 9 am-noon. This workshop is designed to help you explore the topic of spiritual gifts and begin to discern how to use that gift to serve others in the church and the community. Cost: $10. Register here.

Seniors and parents: Join us for Senior Send-Off
With graduation just around the corner, we want to honor all of our Five Oaks seniors with this important milestone event! Seniors and parents are invited to join us for our Senior Send-Off on May 21, 6:00-7:30 pm at Five Oaks. Please send us a digital copy of your senior’s picture (in JPEG format, largest file possible) and info on high school attended and post-high school plans. These items can be emailed to Peg Benson,. by May 9. To register, please email Peg Benson.

Monumental VBS: Spots are filling fast!
If you haven’t yet registered for VBS, you’ll want to do so soon! At Monumental VBS, kids will celebrate God’s greatness through music, outdoors and gym games, crafts, and Bible teaching! July 11-14, 9:15 am-noon, open to kids ages 3 and potty trained up through finishing third grade. Cost: $45. More details & registration info here. Questions? Email Kelly Bauman.

Do you love to write?

If you love how the written word is used to minister to the broken-hearted and encourage those in need of God’s word, consider joining our DailyLife Writing Team. This volunteer team writes our DailyLife Devotionals that are available by podcast and email each weekday. These devotionals expand on the content of the sermon the weekend before,.They provide a daily prayer, reading and reflection on that reading. Writers are trained and mentored, and all writers are provided with secondary sources based on each sermon series. This is a great way to serve your church from home and on your own schedule! Interested in knowing more? Email Danny Martin.

Do you love chalk art?
If you love lettering or sketching in chalk, we’d love for you to share your talents with our Chalkboard Art Team. This team creates the chalkboards in our commons spaces for weekend promotions and special events. This is a great “serve-on-your-schedule” opportunity! Interested? Email Peg Benson.

Life is better when we’re connected
When you’re connected with others, you have people to help you follow Jesus and face the challenges in life. If you would like to be connected to others at Five Oaks, we want to help you take that step, whether that be in a small group, our men’s or women’s ministries, or serving our church or community as a team. Want to start that process? Email Peg Benson.

Students: Save the dates for summer trip fundraising
We’re looking forward to many meaningful adventures with our middle and high school students this summer at Camp Getaway and on our Challenge trip. This is an opportunity to help offset the cost of these summer trips. Register here for April 23 AND here for May 7. We need parents, too! Pizza, snacks and cash prizes are on the agenda! Questions? Email Henry Michael.
