Weekend of April 30 + May 1

Global Vision Citadelle Ministries: Serving the people of Haiti in Jesus’s name

Did you know Five Oaks helped build an orphanage in Haiti about 15 years ago? This weekend we’re excited to share the work of our global IMPACT partner, Global Vision Citadelle Ministries (GVCM). GVCM strives to bring the light of Christ into the darkest places of Haiti by working through the local church, planting churches, providing medical assistance, building wells in the community, and supporting children in need through 24 local schools as well as the orphanage. Abigail Mayo from GVCM will be with us this weekend. Stop to chat with her in the commons or join her for an info session in Room 102 at 10:45 am Sunday. You’ll learn what’s new and get info on possible vision trips to Haiti. Questions? Email Dave Baar.

Experience Global Missions at Five Oaks

In the commons this weekend
Stop by before and after services to ask questions and get updates from three of our key Global Missions partners:
•CRU Transformational Leadership Movement with David Neibling
•Reach Global MENA (Middle East North Africa) Five Oaks is also considering a vision trip to the Middle East this year. Please pray about how God might be calling you to get involved. Want more info? Email Dave Baar.
•GVCM (Haiti — more info above).

In the commons next weekend (May 7+8)
We’ll have detailed information on parenting resources for helping to cultivate mission-minded children. Plan to check out our table for more information before and after services.

Launching a New Global IMPACT Partnership in India
Do you have a heart for children and families in India?  Does it concern you that 1.3 billion people in India have not heard of Jesus?  Does it concern you that so many children in India suffer because of lack of adequate shelter, clean water and proper nutrition?  If the answer to any of those questions is YES, please prayerfully consider becoming part of the Five Oaks team to launch a new IMPACT partnership with Global Fingerprints in India. More details on this here.  We will be hosting information sessions in the upcoming weeks. If you’d like to learn more, please email Dave Baar and he’ll send you details on these info sessions.

Serve your neighbor in need at Dorothy Day

Ladies: Join us for our final TABLE of the season this week!
Come join other women for a meal, fellowship, and spiritual encouragement. Our TABLE gatherings consist of a potluck-style meal and shared conversation. World Vision Global 6K: We’d love your help
As the Global 6K for Clean Water approaches on May 14, we’d love your hands, feet and smile to make this event a success for both the communities across the world in need of clean water, and for all of the families participating in the event. We’re expecting lots of non-Five Oakers to walk, run, and stroll that day, some of whom have no idea how amazing the people of Five Oaks are. Let’s welcome all who show up that day! We’d love your help with set-up, tear-down, snack table, to name a few. Interested in helping out? (By the way, YES! You can volunteer to help AND walk or run the 6K!) Find a volunteer spot here.

Do you love chalk art?
If you love lettering or sketching in chalk, we’d love for you to share your talents with our Chalkboard Art Team. This team creates the chalkboards in our commons spaces for weekend promotions and special events. This is a great “serve-on-your-schedule” opportunity! Interested? Email Peg Benson.

Seniors and parents: Join us for Senior Send-Off
With graduation just around the corner, we want to honor all of our Five Oaks seniors with this important milestone event! Seniors and parents are invited to join us for our Senior Send-Off on May 21, 6:00-7:30 pm at Five Oaks. Please send us a digital copy of your senior’s picture (in JPEG format, largest file possible) and info on high school attended and post-high school plans. These items can be emailed to Peg Benson by May 9. Register for Senior Send-Off here.

Help wanted: Connections Team (Inquire within!)
Do you find yourself curiously available on the third weekend of each month? If so, we’d love your smile and willing hands to step in and serve on almost any Connections team (Greeter, Usher, Acorn Cafe, Concierge), either Saturdays or Sundays. We encourage you to shadow on any of these teams before you decide to jump in. Curious? Email Pam Hawley.

Do you love to write?
Do you love shepherding others and glorifying God through the written word? Do you have a collection of red markup pens always at the ready? Or have you simply been blessed by our DailyLife Devotionals and would like to be a blessing in turn? If so, we invite you to write or edit as a member of our DailyLife Devotional team! Questions? Want to join the team? Email Danny Martin.

Life is better when we’re connected
When you’re connected with others, you have people to help you follow Jesus and face the challenges in life. If you would like to be connected to others at Five Oaks, we want to help you take that step, whether that be in a small group, our men’s or women’s ministries, or serving our church or community as a team. Want to start that process? Email Peg Benson.

Students: Join us for our final summer trip fundraising BLITZ
We’re looking forward to many meaningful adventures with our middle and high school students this summer at Camp Getaway and on our Challenge trip. Help the world read God’s Word: Sign up for the 12-Verse Challenge

Through the 12VC initiative, 11 of the leading Bible translation agencies are working together to translate and deliver scriptures to all people. The end of this effort is in sight and Five Oaks is partnering with 12VC to accelerate the timeline. To learn more about how you can help, take a card on your way out after the service this weekend!
