Weekend of August 20+21

Family Ministry Launch Event: Why you’ll want to come

As we all start to look to fall schedules, add to your calendar the Family Ministry Launch Event on August 31, 7 pm at Five Oaks. This is a chance to get a peek at what God has in store in Five Oaks Kids and Five Oaks Students for the upcoming ministry year. You’ll also get a glimpse into what’s happening in Impact and our Adult Ministries. We’ll have treats and lots of great info to help you plan well for the year! Questions? Email Henry Michael.

Last call for Village Schools of the Bible

Imagine getting a deep dive into the entire Bible for one school year (September through May). You have a highly qualified teacher to walk you through the entire Bible and see the “scarlet thread of redemption” that runs throughout Scripture. For more information and to register, go to villageschoolsofthebible.org. Don’t delay! Classes begin Tuesday, September 6.

Kicking off the new year!
Join us the weekend of September 10+11 as we move kids into their new classes. We will have some fun and games and a great time celebrating our new upcoming adventures together. We have already started in August a year through the Bible with our elementary kids. We are so excited to watch them grow in understanding and appreciation for God’s written word this year!

Want to join our mission?
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.” If you have a personal relationship with Christ and you have completed the Story of God class, we would love to have you join us for our membership class on Sunday, September 18 at 9 am. Register here. Questions? Email Kelsey Vang.

High schoolers: Save the date for Camp Getaway
Fall is scampering up on us, and with it comes a long-standing Five Oaks high school tradition: Camp Getaway. This year all the fun will take place at Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch on November 11-13. Mark your calendar now and start inviting your friends – this is a great event for non-Five Oaks friends! Look forward to games, worship, time spent learning about Jesus, and making new friends. More details coming soon. Questions? Email Henry Michael.

So many undies! Thank you!
Way to go, Five Oaks! Over the course of July, we collected 1,155 pairs of undies and 300 pairs of socks in partnership with The Drawer, who distributes them to those experiencing homelessness in the Twin Cities! Over 1,000 pairs of undies collected is something to celebrate! Thank you to all those who participated. If you have questions or want to know more about The Drawer, email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Are you handy? Want to serve with your small group?

If you love to help with odd jobs, New Life Family Services and The Dwelling Place would welcome your help in the weeks ahead. NLFS is opening a new location in the Phillips neighborhood in September, and they’re looking for volunteers to help with getting their building ready. The Dwelling Place is also looking for handy volunteers who would like to donate their time and skills between now and fall. For more info about either of these opportunities or future dates, email Dave Baar.
