Ladies: It’s time to reconnect!
Mark your calendar for a fun evening with other Five Oaks Women where we’ll have food, some
“re-connect” games, conversation, and a chance to catch the vision of what’s ahead in Five Oaks Women
for the next ministry year. This is a great opportunity to hear about next year’s Bible Study offerings, Connect 4, our all-new Women’s Winter Retreat, and more. Registration and more details will be available soon.
For now, save the date! August 18, 7-8:30 pm.
Calling all incoming sixth and ninth graders!
Yes, you! If you’re going to be starting sixth or ninth grade in the fall, you’re also “aging up” in our student ministry, and we can’t wait to welcome you to middle and high school! Incoming sixth graders, join us on
August 17, 7:30-9 pm at church for a middle school-only bonfire. Incoming ninth graders, we’re having a high school-only bonfire on August 24, 7:30-9 pm, also at church. Details on all of our summer programming is available at www.fiveoaks.church/students.
Last call for undies this weekend!
Please drop off your donations of men’s, women’s, and children’s new underwear and socks in the commons no later than Sunday, July 31. This weekend is the LAST weekend of our underwear and socks drive in partnership with The Drawer, a local non-profit, in effort to offer dignity to our unhoused neighbors in St. Paul. For more info on our underwear drive or any of our ministry partners, email Dave Baar.
Join us in prayer on Sunday
Missionary prayer is this weekend! Join us as we pray for our missions partners between the services on Sunday, July 31, from 10:15-10:45 am in Room 102. We’ll pray over specific requests sent from our local and global missionaries and missions partners. If this Sunday doesn’t work for you, we do it every month on the final Sunday. Not only is the power of prayer important, but also this is a great way to help make our missions partners real to us and get to know them a little better by partnering with them in prayer. Questions? Email Dave Baar.
Warm smiles are welcome!
Are you someone who loves to help others connect? As our church grows, we’re welcoming lots of new families, which means we’re looking to expand our Five Oaks Kids Greeter Team. People often comment how warm and inviting our church is, and we’d love for you to be a part of that! Interested? Please email Kelly Bauman.
Village Schools of the Bible starts in September
Imagine getting a deep dive into the entire Bible for one school year (September through May). You have a highly qualified teacher to walk you through the entire Bible and see the “scarlet thread of redemption” that runs throughout Scripture. For more information, go to villageschoolsofthebible.org. You can even register on the website today by going to classes, cover to cover, and find Five Oaks Church! This class starts on Tuesday evenings in September.
Partner with those in transition
Bridging is a local, nonprofit organization, primarily serving the Twin Cities, which seeks to provide donated furniture and household goods to families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. We’re looking for people who are passionate about this mission to be the liaison between our church and Bridging. If you’d like to know more about this opportunity or if God is working in your heart to serve him through this partnership, email Dave Baar.
Want to lead well?
Do you love to help new people connect in relationships? Or maybe helping facilitate others’ spiritual growth? Small groups are one of the major ways we connect with our church family and grow in our faith. If you are interested in helping lead or co-lead a small group, we would love to help you do that. We have training and resources to ensure you are equipped and prepared to lead well! Email Jonathan Haage to learn more about what’s involved in this much-needed leadership role.
Young adult small group meets Sunday afternoons
Hey, 18-23-year-olds! Join us on Sundays at 4 pm for our young adult group! This group is geared toward college students who are home for the summer, students who attend college locally, or young adults who are working, taking a gap year, etc. If you missed the first meeting but still want to join this group, email Danny Martin to get all the details.
Buying beef to help Minneapolis kids
Hope Farm School, and affiliate of Hope Academy in Minneapolis, is selling grass-fed beef to help fund their programming. (Hope Academy is one of our Impact Partners.) If you’d like to fill your freezer for the winter with quality beef, and help the students of Hope Farm School in the process, you can get started here.
