Weekend of June 18+19

Camp Getaway: “the best week of summer!”

Last week, 55 middle schoolers took Camp Arrowhead by storm for Five Oaks Camp Getaway. Camp shenanigans were organized and discipled by 29 adults and boosted by 15 high schoolers who offered up a week’s time to keep these kids alive, thriving, growing in their faith, and running hard. Middle schoolers learned from the teaching of Freddy Gill, who taught each day at camp on our identity in Christ. Students loved all things camp (except perhaps the bumper crop of mosquitos and black flies), and highlights included boating with Pete Larson and Adam Igl, mission impossible night games, and the country-themed dance. This weekend we praise God for all the ways he showed up last week in the lives of students!

Father’s Day: A #donotmiss weekend at Five Oaks

Dads, we know you’ve felt it before but maybe never wanted to admit it: Mother’s Day is often pretty amazing, right? And Father’s Day, well... That’s about to change! Join us on Saturday, June 18 after the 4:30 pm service for a FREE backyard barbecue supper for the whole family! We’ll grill hot dogs and burgers, and we’ll have all the fixings to round out supper. Guys, bring along your favorite steak and we’ll grill it up for you! Then be sure to come back on Sunday, June 19, when we’ll have the MikMart ice cream truck selling ice cream treats before and after our services. Bonus feature: FREE ice cream for all the guys!

Bless your City Grants: We’ll help your small group reach others
One offshoot of our BLESS Campaign is our Bless Your City Grants. These grants are designed to help Five Oaks small groups meet important needs in their city while serving together in the name of Jesus. The objective is to develop an ongoing relationship with those who need to experience God’s love, hope, and provision. Bless Your City Grants are intended to help defray the cost of a project or need. Questions? Or do you have a project in mind? Email Dave Baar.

Ladies and gents: Looking to make new friendships this summer?
Summer can be a great time to meet some new friends, and we’d love to help you do that. Both our men’s and women’s ministries have some great opportunities for connection over the summer. Our men’s ministry, Journeymen, will meet every other Saturday at 7 am, starting June 11. They will meet for Bible study and fellowship at church. Our women’s ministry, Five Oaks Women, will meet for Wednesday morning park playdates, and a Tuesday evening Bible study in the backyard of one of  our volunteer leaders. Both men’s and women’s groups would love for you to show up when you can. Interested? Email Matt Karasek for info on men’s summer offering. Women’s summer info is here.
