Weekend of March 12+13

Easter Jam is the jam!

Looking for something exciting to do with the entire family this year for Easter? We would love to see you at Easter Jam on April 3 at 4:30 pm. Take a break from dyeing eggs and stuffing baskets with candy to join us for an unforgettable Easter experience complete with fun, games, and music! Space is limited! Register on Realm today. Easter Jam is geared toward families with elementary children, but all ages are welcome. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family to Five Oaks. We hope to see you there!

Are you the parent of a fifth grader?
Fifth grade is an exciting time in kids’ lives, as they think about moving up to middle school, spending more time with friends, and starting to engage with Five Oaks Students when they get to sixth grade. We have several events throughout the fifth grade year to help kids look forward to these transitions. Our next fifth grade event is on March 25, 6:30-8 pm. Gym games, pizza for supper, and other fun activities are on the agenda! Friends are welcome! Questions? Email Kelly Bauman.

Lent at Five Oaks: Prepare your heart for Easter
With so many good things competing for our time and attention these days, we want to invite you to join us on Thursday evenings during Lent to slow down and prepare your heart for Easter. We’ll look to scripture and study an encounter with Jesus, and we’ll see that even though his story is told in the New Testament, every part of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection was foreshadowed in the Old Testament. This in turn underscores how Jesus still shows up for us each day, even during the busiest of seasons. Thursdays, 7-8 pm, March 3-April 7. Childcare provided.

Join us for a Tech-Wise Family parent event

Do you want to feel less chained to your technology? Maybe this is true for you as an individual, or perhaps for your entire family. Join us March 28, 6-8 pm, to watch a recorded presentation by author Andy Crouch. The presentation will cover key points from Andy’s book, The Tech-Wise Family: Everyday Steps for Putting Technology in Its Proper Place. Andy provides practical steps for creating intentional rhythms using wisdom, courage, and character to become a tech-wise family. We will begin our time together with a meal, watch the presentation, and end our evening with a round table discussion.  Childcare is available for nursery through fifth grade.  Register for this free event here. Questions? Email Henry Michael.

Ladies, let’s connect and meet each other
Whether you’ve been at Five Oaks for two weeks or 20 years, this is an opportunity to connect with other Five Oaks women. Participants will be placed in groups of four and the “host” will contact the group to schedule the date and time to share a meal together at a restaurant or host home. This will be a time to get to know each other as the host guides the group through intentional conversation. All ages and stages of life welcome! Interested? Register here. Questions? Email women@fiveoakschurch.org.

Join our mission (membership)
Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.” If you have a personal relationship with Christ and you have completed Story of God (the class or in your small group), we would love to have you join us for this membership class on Sunday, March 20, from 10:45 am-12 pm, in Room 105. Register here. Questions? Email Kelsey Vang.

Take the next step on your impact journey
Are you searching for new ways to respond in obedience to Jesus’ command to love your neighbor and to care for people in need? Do you have an idea for IMPACTing the world for Jesus, but need some help? Five Oaks is creating a new IMPACT-focused community to bring people together - connecting ideas with people to make those ideas real. If you’re interested in learning more about this new community, email Dave Baar.

What is ‘Secret Church’–?
What if following Jesus were illegal where you live, which in turn meant you had to walk miles to find other believers? You’d likely spend hours together praying, worshiping, and studying God’s Word. Secret Church simulates this reality for persecuted Christians. Join the national simulcast on April 29, 5 pm-12 am at Five Oaks, as we worship, study, and pray for the persecuted church. This year’s theme is “Who Am I?” Interested? Email Dave Baar.

Is your college age kid looking for a summer internship?
Now is the time to be thinking and planning for a summer internship! If you have a  senior in high school at home or a college student in your family, please consider encouraging them to apply to be our IMPACT intern this summer.  It’s a great opportunity to get hands-on experience working in various ministry opportunities, connecting with resources for careers in global ministry, and experiencing a short term mission trip (scholarship included!). If you’re interested, or just want to get more information, email Dave Baar.
