Make a difference in the life of a child this summer
We Minnesotans know that summer is short and glorious, and we try to pack as much into the warm months as possible. Because of increased travel, we need more volunteers to step in and help out in Five Oaks Kids during the summer. Summer is a great time to try serving in the cutest wing of our church, even if it’s just once a month! Interested? Email Kelly Bauman. (Anyone middle school-aged or older is welcome to volunteer!) As always, we promise adorable children, delicious coffee and the chance to spread the love of Jesus.
An easy way to help your kids develop a heart for missions
Ever wonder how to cultivate a mission-minded heart in your kids? It’s easy to see the importance of the next generation being mission-minded, but it can be tricky to know where to start at home with your own kids. In the commons this weekend, we’ll have some parenting resources and materials to help with just that. Questions? Email Dave Baar.
Last chance dance for the global 6K! (invite your friends!)
The Global 6K is zooming up Saturday, May 14 at 9 am at Colby Lake Park in Woodbury. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to get outside in the sunshine and walk to help people around the world have access to clean water. And if you already signed up, invite your friends, co-workers, and neighbors! It’s such an easy invite for a great cause! (Dancing is optional.) Register here.
Help the world read God’s Word: Sign up for the 12-Verse Challenge
What would your life look like if you didn’t have access to a Bible? For over 3800 language groups across the globe, this is their daily reality. Through the 12VC initiative, 11 of the leading Bible translation agencies are working together to translate and deliver scriptures to all people. The end of this effort is in sight and Five Oaks is partnering with 12VC to accelerate the timeline. To learn more about how you can help, take a card on your way out after the service this weekend! You also can help us reach our Five Oaks goal of funding 286 verses here.
Students: Join us for our final summer trip fundraising BLITZ this Saturday!
We’re looking forward to many meaningful adventures with our middle and high school students this summer at Camp Getaway and on our Challenge trip. Join us on May 7 as we work together on summer trip fundraising. We’ll go into the community in groups to sell coupon cards. This is an opportunity to help offset the cost of these summer trips. Register here for May 7. We need parents, too! Pizza, snacks and cash prizes are on the agenda! Questions? Email Henry Michael.
Launching a New Global IMPACT Partnership in India
Do you have a heart for children and families in India? Does it concern you that 1.3 billion people in India have not heard of Jesus? Does it concern you that so many children in India suffer because of lack of adequate shelter, clean water and proper nutrition? If the answer to any of those questions is YES, please prayerfully consider becoming part of the Five Oaks team to launch a new IMPACT partnership with Global Fingerprints in India. More details here. We will be hosting information sessions in the upcoming weeks. If you’d like to learn more, please email Dave Baar.
Middle school: Camp Getaway spots are filling fast
If you haven’t yet signed up your middle schooler for the best week of their summer, do so today! June 7-12 at Camp Arrowhead in Deerwood, MN. Students can look forward to water fun, including swimming, kayaking and tubing, outdoor games, great worship music, and time spent learning God’s word and discussing it with cabin mates and leaders. Sunshine not guaranteed but is definitely high on the list of camp preparation prayer requests. Your middle schooler will not want to miss the fun! Questions? Email Kyler Albert.
Help wanted: Connections Team (inquire within)
Do you find yourself curiously available on the third weekend of each month? If so, we’d love your smile and willing hands to step in and serve on almost any Connections team (Greeter, Usher, Acorn Cafe, Concierge), either Saturdays or Sundays. We encourage you to shadow on any of these teams before you decide to jump in. Curious? Want to help us make a third weekend dream team? Put “Connections” on your connect card or email Pam Hawley.
Do you love chalk art?
If you love lettering or sketching in chalk, we’d love for you to share your talents with our Chalkboard Art Team. This team creates the chalkboards in our commons spaces for weekend promotions and special events. This is a great “serve-on-your-schedule” opportunity! Interested? Email Peg Benson.
