Weekend of March 25+26

Easter at Five Oaks: We’d love your help!

As you make plans to celebrate Easter this year, we look forward to worshipping with you. This is a great opportunity to jump in and try a new serve role, especially in support of Five Oaks Kids, as we will have some extra services over the weekend. Your wilingness to jump in could be just what helps a visitor feel welcomed this Easter. Find a serve role in Five Oaks Kids here. We also have serve spots open in Connections — you can find those here.
Friday, April 7, 5:30 & 7 pm – Good Friday service (no children’s programing)
Saturday, April 8, 4:30 pm – Easter service
Sunday, April 9, 8:45, 10, & 11:15 am – Easter service
Children’s programing available at all services on Saturday and Sunday.

Palm Sunday children’s choir rehearsal this weekend!
Who loves to see their child on stage singing and praising Jesus? If your child would enjoy singing in our children’s choir at the start of our Palm Sunday service, please have them come to the worship center at 12:20 this Sunday, March 26. We will rehearse our song and give the kids an opportunity to perform on the stage. We hope to see you there! (PS Your child only needs to sing on Palm Sunday at the service you plan to attend.) Questions? Email Kelly Bauman.

Lent at Five Oaks: Our final service is next week!

Do you ever feel as though life gets a bit busier each day? Sometimes the tasks of the day fill our time before we make room for God and Scripture. This upside down template may seem fulfilling for awhile, as the busier we are, sometimes the less relevant God seems. Lent is a time for reflection and renewal. If you’d like to flip the script and get God back to the center, join us on Thursday evenings at 7 pm, now through March 30, for our Lent services. We’ll equip you with a reminder of the foundational teachings of our faith and reasons why it matters to bring God with you into every day. Childcare provided.

Host a U of M International Student for Easter

Easter Sunday will be here soon and the Hospitality Center is looking for families to invite international students to enjoy a meal with you on either Saturday, April 8th or Easter Sunday, April 9th. Consider welcoming a couple of students into your home for a meal and sharing the Easter story and traditions. Most international students are unfamiliar with what Easter is really all about. They are curious about our holidays and love the opportunity to experience American home life.  Details and registration here.  If you have questions please contact kim@thehospitalitycenter.org.

Brownies, bonding, and bunco!

Ladies, are these blizzards keeping you barricaded in your bungalow? Bring a buddy to Brownies, Bonding, and Bunco! No Bunco experience required. Instructions provided! We do need to know if you plan to attend, and we hope you’ll bring a friend. This is a great opportunity to reach out to your friends and neighbors and get to know women of all ages and stages. April 13, 7-8:30 pm. Details and registration here.

Find your place in the Story of God

If you’ve ever found the Bible difficult to understand, consider joining our Story of God class, a six-week guided journey through the Bible. This class will help you see how the Bible fits together to tell one story, and how you fit into the Story of God. Our spring class begins on April 15 at 4:30 and runs for six Saturdays at Five Oaks. Details are registration here.

DailyLife team: Writers wanted. Inquire within!

If you would like to help shepherd hundreds of readers in their faith journey, consider joining our DailyLife team as a writer. This team creates the content for our in-house daily devotional, called DailyLife, that lands in email inboxes five days a week. We provide training, resources, and coaching to our writers and editors. You can expect to create three days of content each month on average. Want more info? Put “DaillyLife writer” on your connect card, or email Jonathan Haage, jhaage@fiveoakschurch.org.

Register now for summer camps with Five Oaks Students!

This summer we are giving a variety of opportunities for our students and our leaders to dive deeper into relationships and God’s Word through summer camp and FCA camp. We do this because the time spent in community and with godly adults in a week of camp equals an entire ministry year of Wednesday night programming. So save the date for Middle School Camp (June 12-17), 9th/10th Grade Camp (June 25-30), and FCA Camp (July 10-13)! Register now at www.fiveoaks.church/students.

Global 6K for Water is back! Save now on registration!
Did you know that in some countries, kids often walk 3+ miles each day to access dirty water, the only water they can find. You can help simply by joining our third annual Team World Vision Global 6K for Water at Colby Lake Park on May 20. You can run, walk, push a stroller, &  bring your friends and neighbors! Your registration fee provides clean water for one person for a lifetime. World Water Day is March 22, so between now and April 10, save $15 per registration with code WWD23. Go to www.fiveoaks.church/global-6k now to register.

Urgent need: Help turn sleeping bags into blessings!
While 40 degrees in Minnesota isn’t a big deal, 40 degrees in California is hitting those experiencing homelessness hard. One of our missions partners, Greg Larson, works in urban ministry at Kairos Church in East Hollywood, CA. They do some work with those experiencing homelessness and have asked if we’d be willing to provide sleeping bags or blankets to give out to people. These can be shipped straight to Kairos Church from Amazon, for example, or from another retail source.
