Weekend of May 13+14

Happy mother’s Day to all the moms!

Moms play an important role in our lives, from a hug and a kiss for a skinned knee, to plodding through math homework with their kids, to helping raise grandchildren, and everything in between. We know that the person you call “Mom” might be your mom, or she may be a stepmom, an aunt, a grandmother, a foster mom, or even a caring neighbor. This weekend, we honor all the mother figures in our church family. We thank you for all the ways you show up in a motherly role for the young people in your life who need you, Moms! Please take our small gift in the commons, and be sure to stop by our photo area and snap a picture of your family together.

Last call to register for the Global 6K! Invite your neighbors!

You already know that the Global 6K is about providing clean water to people around the world. But at Five Oaks, the Global 6K is also about celebrating the many ways that God has blessed our community –including the beauty of SPRING after a long WINTER. This is the perfect kind of event to invite a friend, family member, neighbor or colleague who is not so sure about church, but who would love to get outside, stretch their legs, help people in need around the world, and hang out with YOU! Please help us bless our world and community in a greater way by stepping out in courage and faith, and inviting the person(s) that God has put on your heart and mind. The FIVEOAKS discount code is available to share with everyone you invite. May 20 at Colby Lake Park. Details and registration here. But hurry! You need to register by May 15 to receive your race packet before the event!

Ladies: Join us for Walk + Talk, Thursday evenings in May

Come anyway! Thursday evenings in May at 6 pm. Meet at Edgewater Park at Colby Lake, 3100 Edgewater Drive, Woodbury. This event is for all ages (18+ please) and all walks of life. Questions? Email women@fiveoakschurch.org. No registration needed.

Curious about leading a small group?
If you love people and the idea of encouraging them in their faith journey energizes you, or if you’re someone with a gift of hospitality, we’d love to talk with you about what’s involved in leading an adult small group at Five Oaks. Join us June 4 at 10:45 am to learn more about small group leadership, meet others in this role, and ask all the questions you might have. Details and registration here.

Our children need you this summer!
Summer time in Minnesota is so beautiful! Many of our year-long volunteers take a break from their weekly volunteer roles in the summer, which opens up opportunities for others to try a new serve role. If you love kids, this is your chance to jump in and show them that love. Our staff does all the lesson prep and set-up for you, so you can show up to jump in! We also have openings for other spots in Five Oaks Kids, such as greeting families. Interested? Email Kelly Bauman.

Register now for summer camps with Five Oaks Students!
This summer we’re offering a variety of opportunities for our students and our leaders to dive deeper into relationships and God’s Word through summer camp. We do this because the time spent in community and with godly adults in a week of camp equals an entire ministry year of Wednesday night programming. Mark your calendar for Middle School Camp Getaway (June 12-17) and 9th/10th Grade Camp (June 25-30)! Register now at www.fiveoaks.church/students.

Students: Important spring and summer dates

We’re quickly winding down our regular ministry year. Our final youth group of the season will be on May 24. In June and July we have several camps and our Panama mission trip, so summer programing will start again July 19, 7-9 pm for both middle and high school students. The best way to stay connected to FO Students is through our emails. If you don’t currently receive emails from Five Oaks Students, please email students@fiveoakschurch.org to get added to that list.

Time to register for VBS and FCA camp! And join the fun as a volunteer!
In the summer something huge takes place here at Five Oaks! The whole church is transformed into a place where kids of all ages come to engage and encounter God and his community in a life-changing way at Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) camp! VBS runs in the morning and FCA in the afternoon of July 10-13. VBS is open to current ages 3 years old through 3rd grade. FCA sports camp is open to current 4th - 7th grades. Volunteers are needed for both events. Register for VBS here. Register for FCA here.

Plan your small group impact project now
Bless Your City Grants were established as part of our BLESS capital campaign that wrapped up earlier this year. These grants are available to help small groups meet important needs in our city and to serve our community in the name of Jesus. Through serving together, the group will both strengthen their bond as a small group community and shine the light of Jesus to their neighbors. Questions? Or have a project in mind? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Introducing our summer Impact interns!
We’re looking forward to an exciting summer on the Impact team, as we’ll have three high school students, all rising seniors, joining us as interns: Hannah Dunbar, Samuel Ellingson, and Luke Spielman. They’ll have about ten weeks with us,  and their projects include: the Panama Mission trip with our student ministry, helping out at middle school Camp Getaway, working with various local Impact partners, and some internal Five Oaks staff projects. Join us in praying for their summer. Questions or want to know more? Email Dave Baar,  impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Interested in Story of God this summer?
Our Story of God class is a 6-week journey through the Bible. Taking this class will help you read the Bible with greater understanding and help you see how the Bible fits together to tell one big story. We’re currently gauging interest in the idea of a summer Story of God class at Five Oaks. If you would like to add your name to the list as being possibly interested, please click here. (Don’t worry — you’re not committing to anything by adding your name to the list!)

Want in on the Global 6k fun without the 6k part?

We need your help to make this event on May 20 a success! We’re expecting lots of non-Five Oakers to walk, run, and stroll that day, some of whom have no idea how amazing the people of Five Oaks are. Let’s welcome all who show up that day! We’d love your help with set-up, tear-down, snack table, to name a few. Interested in helping out? (By the way, YES! You can volunteer to help AND walk or run the 6K!) Go to www.fiveoaks.church/global-6k to find the volunteer (and registration) link.
