Weekend of May 27+28

230 lives changed!

Last Saturday, over 250 of you walked, ran, trotted, or rolled in the Global 6K for Water and raised $11,500! That means that 230 people will receive clean water for life! We were part of a larger global event that raised over $1.7 million, which will provide clean water to 24,300 people. Thank you for coming out and participating in a wonderful church day at the park for a great cause, and thank you to our many volunteers who made it possible. Mark your calendar now for next year’s Global 6K on May 18, 2024. If you register before May 31, you save 50 percent off your entrance fee!  Register here TODAY.

Curious about leading a small group?
If you love people and the idea of encouraging them in their faith journey energizes you, or if you’re someone with a gift of hospitality, we’d love to talk with you about what’s involved in leading an adult small group at Five Oaks. Join us June 4 at 10:45 am to learn more about small group leadership, meet others in this role, and ask all the questions you might have. This is a great opportunity to find out more without committing to anything! Details and registration here.

Time for a picnic!
Did you know there are many people at Five Oaks serving vulnerable children and their families in a variety of ways? You may have served in the past, you may be currently serving, or you may be learning about God’s call to care for orphans. Join us on June 4 at 12 pm for a time to connect and learn about the Foster Adopt Ministry at Five Oaks. Jimmy John’s sandwiches will be provided; plan to bring your favorite side or dessert to share. Register here, or email foster@fiveoakschurch.org for more info.

Adults — get connected this summer!
Summer is often a slower-paced season which can mean it’s also a great season to form new friendships. Connect in our New Here small group that meets twice monthly on Sunday. Email Jonathan Haage if you’re interested in checking it out. Guys, connect with Journeymen, our men’s ministry, twice monthly on Saturday mornings, studying the book of Galatians. Go to www.fiveoaks.church/men to learn more. Ladies, join us for Wednesday morning summer playdates at a local park, or a Bible study option on Tuesday evenings at church. Go to www.fiveoaks.church/women for more info.

Need some help with your yard work?
We all know that this winter was challenging on our trees and shrubs. If you need help with seasonal cleanup, our student ministry is taking bookings for such work to raise funds for their summer trips and camps. Interested or have questions? Email students@fiveoakschurch.org.

The beauty behind VBS
Do you think cutting paper for Jesus sounds like a party? (We do!) If you enjoy being creative, or simply have a heart to help, we have TWO dates set aside for preparing VBS decorations. You don’t need to come with a special set of skills. A willingness to help is perfection! Join us on June 11 and/or 25. We’ll start this party at 1 pm in the gym. To help us out with our snack to helper ratio, you can let us know you’ll be there by putting emailing Kelly Bauman.

Our children need you this summer!
Summer time in Minnesota is so beautiful! Many of our year-long volunteers take a break from their weekly volunteer roles in the summer, which opens up opportunities for others to try a new serve role. If you love kids, this is your chance to jump in and show them that love. Our staff does all the lesson prep and set-up for you, so you can show up to jump in! We also have openings for other spots in Five Oaks Kids, such as greeting families. Interested? Email Kelly Bauman.

Join us for a Middle East & North Africa missions update
Do you have a heart for global mIssions? Are you interested in learning more about the work our vocational missionary partners are doing in the Middle East and North Africa?  If so, join us for an information sharing session on June 11 at 10:15 am, in Room 102.  Several Five Oakers will be sharing stories and lessons learned from our recent trip to the Middle East. If you can’t make the session, but would like to learn more, please contact Dave Baar via email at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Updates on VBS and FCA
In the summer something huge takes place here at Five Oaks! The whole church is transformed into a place where kids of all ages come to engage and encounter God and his community in a life-changing way at Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) camp! VBS runs in the morning and FCA in the afternoon of July 10-13. VBS is open to current ages 3 years old through 3rd grade. FCA sports camp registrations are full, but volunteers are needed for both events. Register for VBS here. Register to serve at FCA here.

Plan your small group impact project now
Bless Your City Grants were established as part of our BLESS capital campaign that wrapped up earlier this year. These grants are available to help small groups meet important needs in our city and to serve our community in the name of Jesus. Through serving together, the group will both strengthen their bond as a small group community and shine the light of Jesus to their neighbors. Questions? Or have a project in mind? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Introducing our summer Impact interns!
We’re looking forward to an exciting summer on the Impact team, as we’ll have three high school students, all rising seniors, joining us as interns: Hannah Dunbar, Samuel Ellingson, and Luke Spielman. They’ll have about ten weeks with us,  and their projects include: the Panama Mission trip with our student ministry, helping out at middle school Camp Getaway, working with various local Impact partners, and some internal Five Oaks staff projects. Join us in praying for their summer. Questions or want to know more? Email Dave Baar,  impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Interested in Story of God this summer?
Our Story of God class is a 6-week journey through the Bible. Taking this class will help you read the Bible with greater understanding and help you see how the Bible fits together to tell one big story. We’re currently gauging interest in the idea of a summer Story of God class at Five Oaks. If you would like to add your name to the list as being possibly interested, please click here. (Don’t worry — you’re not committing to anything by adding your name to the list!)

Office closed
In honor of Memorial Day, the church office will be closed on Monday, May 29.
