We love all the moms!
Moms play an important role in our lives, from a hug and a kiss for a skinned knee, to plodding through math homework with their kids, to helping raise grandchildren, and everything in between. We know that the person you call “Mom” might be your mom, or she may be a stepmom, an aunt, a grandmother, a foster mom, or even a caring neighbor. This weekend, we honor all the mother figures in our church family. We thank you for all the ways you show up in a motherly role for the young people in your life who need you, Moms! Please take advantage of our DIY flower bar in the commons, and be sure to stop by our photo area and snap a picture of your family together.
Want in on the Global 6K without the 6K part?
As the Global 6K for Clean Water approaches on May 18, we need your help to make this event a success. We’re expecting lots of non-Five Oakers to walk, run, and stroll that day, some of whom have no idea how amazing the people of Five Oaks are. Let’s welcome all who show up that day! We’d love your help with set-up, tear-down, snack table, to name a few. Interested in helping out? (And, YES! You can volunteer to help AND do the 6K!) Sign up to help out here. (You can also use that link to register to participate in the Global 6K if you haven’t yet done that!)

Are your kids asking questions about baptism?
If you have a child or student interested in learning more about baptism or communion, we encourage you to attend our class on May 19 at 9 am. Our next baptism will take place in Lake Johanna at the University of Northwestern on August 18. Even if your child or student isn’t ready for that step but is still asking questions about baptism, attending the class may help answer some of their questions. Email Kelly Bauman to register for the class.
Adults: Is your next step baptism?
Baptism is an important faith milestone in your journey of following Jesus. Jesus was baptized! He called his disciples to go into the world to make disciples and baptize them. If you have made the choice to follow Jesus and haven’t been baptized, we invite you to take that step. Join us for our adult baptism class on June 9 at 10:45 am to gain an understanding of baptism, get a framework for sharing your story, and prepare for our outdoor baptism service on August 18 at Lake Johanna! All the details and registration here.
Bless Your City Grants: We’ll help your small group reach others
Bless Your City Grants are designed to help small groups step into the lives of those in our city who need help with a project or an ongoing need. These grants help defray the cost of the project or ministry and make it possible for our small groups to develop an ongoing relationship with the group, family, or community they have identified as needing help. Does your small group have a project in mind? Or would you like help getting started? Email Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
Do you have a creative eye for social media?
If you love to post, scroll, or experiment across social media platforms, and you love Five Oaks, consider joining our Five Oaks social media team. In this volunteer role, we’ll provide you with training, resources, and collaboration opportunities. You can fill this role from anywhere, anytime, and social media is a lesser-known discipleship tool that helps us reach more people than ever before. Interested? Email Stephanie Kiel.
Introducing our summer Impact interns!
We’re looking forward to an exciting summer on the Impact team, as we’ll have three students joining us as interns: Sofie Arenz, rising senior, Mallary Bauman, graduating senior, and Brooke McCormick, rising senior. They’ll have about ten weeks with us, and their projects include the Panama Mission trip, helping out at middle school Camp Getaway, working with various local Impact partners, and some internal Five Oaks staff projects. Join us in praying for their summer. Questions? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
