Weekend of April 5+6

Together: Partnering in the gospel

As we’ve moved through the Together sermon series over the last couple of months, we’ve seen the power of working together as coworkers in the family of God. When we’re working together, caring for each other, for our community and world, we create a community that people want to be a part of, and a community that does great things for God’s kingdom here on earth. This weekend we’re wrapping up the Together sermon series.  Pastor Henry will share next steps for each of us to consider as we look to expand our gospel reach at Five Oaks Woodbury and through our slow plant at Five Oaks Cottage Grove.  Let’s all be praying for God’s leading and provision as we move forward. Questions? Email together@fiveoakschurch.org.

Easter Family Fun Night: Bring your neighbors
Looking for a family event that won’t get snowed or rained out and won’t break the bank? Invite your neighbors and join us for our Easter Family Fun Night on April 11, 6:30-8:30 pm. Look forward to bingo and other games, Easter-themed activities, snacks, a family-friendly presentation of the Easter story, bounce houses, and more. Space is limited, and registration is required. All the info and sign-up here. This is a great “first step” for visitors to pave the way for a return visit on a weekend.

Host an international student for Easter
God brings the world to our doorstep at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. The Hospitality Center at the U of M exists to connect churches with opportunities to serve international students in the name of Jesus.  One of those opportunities is to invite an international student into your home to celebrate Easter.  This is truly an amazing opportunity to influence the life of a student from another part of the world as your family celebrates the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. More info here.

Join us for the final Lent service April 10
It’s no secret that most of us run a somewhat frenetic pace each day and each week. Sometimes that pace is a thinly veiled balm for the unspoken grief we shoulder, grief that seems easier to hide or bury than to face. Consider what might happen if, instead of numbing that grief, we laid it at the feet of God. Lent is a season that offers us the opportunity to do just that. Even if you’ve missed all the services so far, join us for this powerful experience this Thursday, April 10, at 6 pm. More info at www.fiveoaks.church/lent.

Want to serve in Panama this summer?
Five Oaks is sending a team to serve in Panama in early August (4-11).  Due to schedule changes, a couple people had to drop out of the trip, which means we have room for YOU - your family (middle school-aged students and up) - your friends - to join this trip. The team will be working in support of the missionaries at Word of Life Panama, and we are partnering with Filter of Hope to share the gospel with the people of Panama through clean water. If you have a passport and love Jesus, you should join us! Please let Dave Baar know if you are interested -ASAP - dbaar@fiveoakschurch.org.

Got big questions about Christianity?
There are few emotions more powerful than hope. But these days, hope often feels hard to come by. The 3-week Hope Explored class is for you if you’re exploring faith, seeking answers to questions about Jesus or the Bible, or disconnected from a church community. Using well-produced videos, Bible explorations, and group discussion, our Hope Explored class presents the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and provides an opportunity to discover how he fulfills three great longings we all experience: the longing for hope, peace, and purpose. We have two spring classes starting on May 3 and 4. Details and registration here (May 3) and here (May 4).

Story of God: One class this summer!
Understanding the Bible and how it all fits together can be a hurdle to engaging with it meaningfully. Our Story of God course is an 8-week cohort that takes you through the framework of the entire Bible to help you see the larger narrative. Our next available class begins on June 1. Details and registration are available here.
