outdoor summer baptisms: mark your calendar
GBaptism is an important milestone in our faith journey, and we love to celebrate this as a church when our people take this step. Mark your calendar for July 30, as we’re planning a summer outdoor baptism service at University of Northwestern, where we’ll do baptisms in Lake Johanna. More details to come! If you’re interested in being baptized on July 30, please email Jonathan Haage.
Prepping for the party!
We are so excited for VBS coming up in July! If you are someone who likes to set up for a party, we have some fun opportunities for you to make a difference! We’re making decor on June 25 at 1 pm and would love anyone who might be willing to grab a pair of scissors and help out. Our set-up and church decorating times will be Thursday, July 6, 9 am-12 pm; Friday, July 7, 9 am-12:30 pm and Sunday, July 9, 2:00-5:30 pm. If any of those times work for you, please email Kelly Bauman. Walk-ups are welcome!
Summertime...and the living (and serving) is easy
If you have an upcoming weekend or two where you are NOT headed to the cabin, we'd love to have your heart and hands in Five Oaks Kids! Interested? Email Kelly Bauman with some open weekends.
Ladies, would you like a mentor?
As women, we know you get pulled in many different directions, often leaving your own needs unchecked. If you’d like to grow deeper in your faith and in turn become more engaged, with intent, in all areas of your life, consider checking out our Five Oaks Women Radical Mentoring program. This program strives to create an environment for women to be real, share their stories, and find encouragement in their spiritual lives. Deep relationships are formed among small group members through monthly meetings covering different themes relating to our walk with Jesus. Mentors and mentees will grow in their faith through accountability, prayer, and discussions related to each month’s theme. Interested? More details here.
Men, would you like a mentor?
Guys, do you ever feel like you could be a more effective leader in your family or at work if you had more time to put down deep roots in your faith? Ever feel like your life is dotted with too many “extras” and not enough margin for what matters most? If so, check out the Five Oaks Men Radical Mentoring program. This program pairs small groups of younger men with more mature men for a nine-month dive into discipleship through regular monthly meetings, reading and discussion. More info here.

FCA Camp: An action-packed serve opportunity
FCA Camp is four days of high impact for kids and students in 4th-7th grade to learn about Jesus through various sports activities. This camp can’t happen without the help of adult and high school volunteers. You don’t have to be a sporty person to volunteer, just a heart that wants to show and guide campers to learn about Jesus. FCA happens on July 10-13 from 1-4 pm. For more info on the various volunteer roles and to register as a volunteer go to www.fiveoaks.church/students.
Please pray for our students going to Panama in July
Fourteen juniors and seniors and five adult leaders will be heading to Panama on July 7 to serve God on mission. This is a first for many of our students and leaders, and we ask that you add this group to your prayer list. Please pray for God to work in and through them, for safe travel, and that they will grow deeper as a group. Our hope is that this partnership will be long-lasting and gives our students a chance to grow, learn, and live on mission in their lives!
Mark your calendar for summer youth group
We want our students to stay connected this summer! With all of our big camps and our mission trip to Panama in the first half of summer, we’re planning to start our summer youth group on July 19, 7-9 pm. Mark your calendar now! We’ll meet weekly through August 23 for games and some Bible study. If you have any questions, please email students@fiveoakschurch.org.
