These are two important milestones in an individual and family’s faith journey. We’re looking forward to having baptisms and dedications the weekend of April 13+14. If you’re interested in either of these milestones, but missed our most recent round of Faith Milestone Classes, please email Kelly Bauman.
Summer in Five Oaks Students: Register now! (Challenge closes next week!)
Summer discipleship opportunities for your middle and high school students are fast approaching! Middle schoolers are headed to Camp Getaway, June 9-14, for the biggest event of their year. High schoolers are going to the Challenge Conference in Kansas City, July 1-6. Both of these events provide opportunities for big fun, spiritual growth, worship, and deepening friendships. Details and registration for both of these events can be found at www.fiveoaks.church/students. Challenge registration closes at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, March 27. Yes, it does.
Bring new hope to a student at Woodbury Elementary
Our church is privileged to partner with Woodbury Elementary School through Kids Hope USA to provide 1:1 mentoring for referred students who need a little extra care and support. We are actively seeking mentors for four young girls who need a caring, attentive, and consistent adult presence in their lives: Calliope (Kindergarten), Ariana (4th), Naseema (3rd), and Emily (3rd). Here’s a little bit about a few of our students:
“She really seems to need someone to talk to. There are many days where she comes to school without a smile and shares that things at home are frustrating.“
“Recently moved in with grandma and mom isn’t involved in their lives anymore. She’s very sweet but cries easily.”
“She struggles with anxiety and stomach aches and often doesn’t want to come to school. She struggles with some of her peers.”
“She needs help building friendships and social skills.”
Interested in standing in the gap for any one of these young girls? Stop by the ministry cart this weekend between services, or email khusa@fiveoakschurch.org.
Curious about leading a small group?
If you love people and the idea of encouraging them in their faith journey energizes you, or if you’re someone with a gift of hospitality, we’d love to talk with you about what’s involved in leading an adult small group at Five Oaks. Join us April 7 at 10:45 am to learn more about small group leadership, meet others in this role, and ask all the questions you might have. Details and registration here.
Don’t miss the Palm Sunday children’s choir this weekend!

Journeymen: Two new studies starting in April
Journeymen has two groups that meet, and each group is starting a new study upcoming.
Saturday Journeymen: How to Face Life’s Challenges by Stephen Foster. A six-part series on how Jesus’s teachings unlock some of life’s major challenges. Biblical and practical application relating to things such as worry, failure, anger, loving enemies, judging others, and facing temptation. Starts April 6 at Five Oaks.
Wednesday Journeymen: Return to Discipleship-Making by Jeff Vanderstelt. Every ministry in our churches should work toward the goal of forming people who love Jesus, spend time with him, and want to live like him. Sometimes, as church leaders, we get distracted from that mission in activities that don’t contribute to the essential task that Jesus gave us as a church. We’ll focus on seven key shifts we need to make to cultivate disciples. Seven sessions, starting April 10 at East Ridge High School.
