Weekend of June 15+16

ways to connect this summer!

Are you new to Five Oaks or looking to get more involved? We have some great ways to get started this summer! If you have kids, our women’s ministry has playdates every Tuesday morning at local parks (More info on women’s ministry here.) Our men’s ministry is meeting every other Saturday morning at 7 am at the church for a Bible study. (Details for men’s ministry here.) Or jump into summer socials in one of our small groups. (Small groups info is available here.)

Knock-knock. Who’s there? Dad, of course!
Dads come in all forms and play an important role to their kids at every stage. This weekend, we want to celebrate (and swap jokes with) all the dads, so grab your father figure and bring him to worship with you. We have a special gift for all the men who show up this weekend to show our appreciation for the ways they shape and form our families. Thank you, Dads, for loving your family well and always being available to the people who love you most. See you this weekend, and bring your best Dad jokes!

Refine your path through Radical Mentoring
Have you ever been impacted by the wisdom and guidance of a mentor? Whether you have or not, we have all seen the power of a mentor in someone’s life for a season. Radical Mentoring is a great opportunity for you to be personally mentored to grow in your relationship with God and others. Many mentorships fail because of a lack of a mentor, or a lack of a defined start and end time, or a lack of a specific plan or roadmap. Radical Mentoring’s process, mixed with wise leaders in our church, addresses those problems head-on to allow you to engage for a 10-month season with a mentor and a small group. Men, you’ll find more info on Radical Mentoring for Men here. Ladies, click here for more info on Radical Mentoring for Women.

Students: Let’s stay connected this summer!
Raise your hand if you love the slower pace of summer! As life slows down in the warmer months, we have a schedule of Wednesday night youth groups between our camps and other trips. Mark your calendar now for June 19 & 26, July 24 & 31, and August 7 & 14 from 7-9 pm at church. All students are welcome who were in grades 6-12 during the 2023/24 school year. Questions? Email students@fiveoakschurch.org.

The beauty behind VBS
Do you think cutting paper for Jesus sounds like a party? (We do!) If you enjoy being creative, or simply have a heart to help, we invite you to join us on Sunday, June 30 at 1:00 in the gym. Interested in helping out? Please email Kelly Bauman so we have enough snacks. Creative and helpful kids are also welcome to attend with their parents! The more the merrier.

Ever considered Saturdays?
We are experiencing a season of growth as a church! And we know that we all want to continue welcoming and discipling new folks. For that reason, we will launch a fourth worship service beginning September 7. We will have two Saturday worship services, at 4 and 5:30 pm. If you’ve never experienced a Saturday service before, pick a few weekends this summer to check it out. You might find you love it! Questions about our fourth service? Email Jonathan Haage.

Do you have a creative eye for social media?
If you love to post, scroll, or experiment across social media platforms, and you love Five Oaks, consider joining our Five Oaks social media team. In this volunteer role, we’ll provide you with training, resources, and collaboration opportunities. You can fill this role from anywhere, anytime, and social media is a lesser-known discipleship tool that helps us reach more people than ever before. Interested? Email Stephanie Kiel.

Ever been in that awkward spot?
We’ve all been there: new to a church or perhaps just coming in hot after a chaotic morning, walking into the worship center and can’t find a spot. It’s awkward, right? Well, ushers to the rescue! Most ushers serve at one service a weekend, once a month, and we’d love to bolster this team both because we’re looking ahead to a fourth worship service this fall, and also because we want to squelch those awkward “where-can-we-sit?” moments. Interested in being that calming presence for people? Email Laura-Paige Albert.
