PRaise God for Camp Getaway!
Last week, 65 middle schoolers took Wood Lake Bible Camp by storm for Five Oaks Camp Getaway. Camp shenanigans were organized and discipled by 19 adults and boosted by 7 high schoolers who offered up a week’s time to keep these kids alive, thriving, growing in their faith, and running hard. Middle schoolers learned and grew from the teaching of Dan Eggum, who taught each day on the Upside Down Kingdom of God. Students loved all things camp, and highlights included worship, amazing cabins, tons of shade, gaga ball, boating, rock wall, and fishing! This weekend we praise God for all the ways he showed up last week in the lives of students! We thank God for all who prayed, supported, and served this week!
Ways to connect this summer!
Are you new to Five Oaks or looking to get more involved? We have some great ways to get started this summer! If you have kids, our women’s ministry has playdates every Tuesday morning at local parks (More info on women’s ministry here.) Our men’s ministry is meeting every other Saturday morning at 7 am at the church for a Bible study. (Details for men’s ministry here.) Or jump into summer socials in one of our small groups. (Small groups info is available here.)
Help us create that VBS vibe!
Do you think cutting paper for Jesus sounds like a party? (We do!) If you enjoy being creative, or simply have a heart to help, we invite you to join us on Sunday, June 30 at 1:00 in the gym. Interested in helping out? Please email Kelly Bauman so we have enough snacks. Creative and helpful kids are also welcome to attend with their parents! The more the merrier.
Serve our neighbors in need at Dorothy Day
If you’d like to make a difference for our neighbors in St. Paul, join us to prepare and serve a meal at the Dorothy Day Center on Saturday, July 6, 9:30 am-1:15 pm. Interested? Please email Cindy and Tim Wiant, wiynts4riverfalls@gmail.com. Tim and Cindy will get back to you with confirmation of your spot on our team and instructions on how to get signed up. Volunteers need to be at least 14 years old.
Students: Let’s stay connected this summer!
Raise your hand if you love the slower pace of summer! As life slows down in the warmer months, we have a schedule of Wednesday night youth groups between our camps and other trips. Mark your calendar now for June 26, July 24 & 31, and August 7 & 14 from 7-9 pm at church. All students are welcome who were in grades 6-12 during the 2023/24 school year. Questions? Email students@fiveoakschurch.org.
Serve at FCA Camp in July
FCA Camp on July 15-18 is four days of high impact for kids and students in 4th-7th grade to learn about Jesus through various sports activities. This high-energy camp is fueled by the help of adult and high school volunteers. We need you! You don’t have to be athletic to help, but instead, have a heart to guide campers to learn about Jesus. We have a variety of roles available! For more info and to register as a volunteer, go to www.fiveoaks.church/students.
Ever considered Saturdays?
We are experiencing a season of growth as a church! And we know that we all want to continue welcoming and discipling new folks. For that reason, we will launch a fourth worship service beginning September 7. We will have two Saturday worship services, at 4 and 5:30 pm. If you’ve never experienced a Saturday service before, pick a few weekends this summer to check it out. You might find you love it! Questions about our fourth service? Email Jonathan Haage.
Refine your path through Radical Mentoring
Have you ever been impacted by the wisdom and guidance of a mentor? Whether you have or not, we have all seen the power of a mentor in someone’s life for a season. Radical Mentoring is a great opportunity for you to be personally mentored to grow in your relationship with God and others. Many mentorships fail because of a lack of a mentor, or a lack of a defined start and end time, or a lack of a specific plan or roadmap. Radical Mentoring’s process, mixed with wise leaders in our church, addresses those problems head-on to allow you to engage for a 10-month season with a mentor and a small group. Men, you’ll find more info on Radical Mentoring for Men here. Ladies, click here for more info on Radical Mentoring for Women.
Middle East missionary partner visit - next weekend
We’re so excited about our growing partnership with the Reach Global team working in the Middle East. Next weekend (June 29 & 30), one of the families that we partner with in the Middle East will be visiting with us for all three worship services. They’ll have a table in the commons with details on their ministry - and possibly some Middle Eastern treats. Please plan to stop in at their table to say hi, and learn more about all that God is doing in that region of the world.
