Weekend of December 7+8

We’d love your help at Christmas!

Looking for a way to give back and serve this Christmas season – possibly with your family or small group? We would love to have you jump in and serve either in Five Oaks Kids or in Connections at any of our six Christmas services. We have many options, including usher, greeter, hot chocolate bar, serving with preschoolers or in the nursery, etc. We hope to see you! Christmas services will take place on December 23 at 3:30 and 5 pm, and on December 24 at 1, 2:30, 4, and 5:30 pm. Click here to sign up to serve in Five Oaks Kids. For Connections serving spots, email Laura-Paige Albert.

Curious about a family mission trip next summer?
If you are interested in learning more about our plans to serve in Panama in 2025, please join us for one of these information sessions:
December 7, 2024, 5-5:30 pm - Room 105
December 8, 2024, 10:15-10:45 am - Room 105
This mission trip is open to everyone 18 years of age and older and families with middle school-aged students and up. We plan to serve alongside the Word of Life Panama missionaries and will partner with Filter of Hope and the local church to share the gospel and water filtration systems with Panamanian families. If you’re interested but can’t make it to one of these sessions, just email Dave Baar at dbaar@fiveoakschurch.org.

Join us on Sunday afternoons to celebrate the season
The Christmas holidays are upon us, and that means our Family Advent Services are, too. Join us on December 1, 8, and 15, all at 4:30 pm. We’ll start in the worship center with some fun and games and a short Christmas message. Afterward, options include games and activities for toddlers to grandparents, treats, crafts, and some time to socialize. No need to register. Invite your neighbors and friends!

Children’s Christmas Choir rehearsal this Sunday
One of the highlights of the Advent season is our children's choir on December 15 at the Sunday afternoon Advent service. If your child wants to participate, join us for a brief rehearsal this Sunday at the end of the Advent service. Questions? Email Kelly Bauman.

Christmas Cards for those in need
Our Foster & Adopt Ministry is doing a mini-drive to support a neighbor family in crisis. We are sharing the love of Jesus with this single mom and her seven kids by putting together a Christmas basket for the family. The basket of gifts is already full, but we still need a “pile” of homemade Christmas cards from Five Oakers to the family. We’ll have a card-making table before and after the Sunday afternoon Advent service (4:30 pm) this weekend. Questions? Email Maggie Butler.

Get those old shoes out and ready to donate!
Got a pile of shoes you don’t need or wear?  If you want those shoes to make a difference, bring them to the commons starting this weekend through December 29.  This year we’re partnering again with Good in the Hood in their Shoe Away Hunger program. Every pair of new or gently used footwear received will be sold at low cost to people in need, and the proceeds from each sale will be used to supply one person with up to seven days of essential groceries. For more info, email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Do you have questions about your faith?
When friends or family ask important spiritual questions, it can be so exciting – and a bit daunting. What if we don’t have the “right” answers? Starting in January, we’ll have a three-week class for people who are searching or exploring their faith. Hope Explored presents the full life of Jesus and helps participants discover how Jesus fulfills our longing for hope, peace, and purpose. If you’re searching for answers, or know someone who might be interested in this class, email office@fiveoakschurch.org.

Help spread Christmas cheer in Woodbury!

This is a simple way to bless the Kids Hope students we mentor at Woodbury Elementary as well as their families with Christmas gifts. Men’s Summit: Step away to move forward
It can be helpful to step away from normal rhythms for a few days so we can step back into them with greater intentionality. You could take that step back during our Men’s Summit weekend, January 31-February 2, 2025. We’ll hear from speaker Dr. Ron Archer and enjoy many fun activities, from pickleball to snowshoeing, with plenty of free time to explore outside or read a book by the fire. Come get recharged! Details and registration here.
