Weekend of July 6+7

This is last year’s Panama Team, comprised of high school students from Five Oaks. Pictured here they are with several missionaries and their families from Word of Life Panama.

please pray for our panama team

Praise God! We have a team of 36 Five Oakers traveling to Panama in late July. Our multi-generational team (21 adults and 15 students) will serve the people of Panama alongside missionaries from Word of Life Panama and Filter of Hope. The primary way you can support this team as we send them out to serve and to experience the greatness of our God in another culture: Prayer! If you’d like to be part of the prayer team that supports this group, please contact Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org. Show up this weekend to meet the team and pray for their trip.

Undie Sunday (or Saturday!) starts next weekend!
Imagine being in a season of life when you can’t afford the basics of clean socks and underwear. For the last several years, we’ve partnered with The Drawer, a local nonprofit that strives to provide warmth and dignity by providing new socks and underwear to those who need them. Between July 13 and August 4, you can help simply by picking up an extra pack of new socks and/or underwear and dropping them off in the commons. Questions? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org

Join us for the Global Leadership Summit

Whether your life’s work is the breadwinning role in the family, a volunteer spot in your community, a supporting role in a nonprofit, or a caregiving role for your kids or aging parents, we all lead others in some capacity. The Global Leadership Summit is the largest leadership event in the country, and this two-day event offers opportunities for growth and sharpening for every leader. Five Oaks is a host site this year! Join us August 8 and 9 to see how God can move the needle in your own leadership. Details and registration here. Note: Those who call Five Oaks their church home can use a discount code. Email Emily Brewer for details.

Help us prep for the VBS party!
We are so excited about Scuba Vacation Bible School coming up on July 15-18! If you like to set up for a party, we have some fun opportunities for you to make a difference! Join us to help set up and transform the church on Thursday, July 11, starting at 9 am, and on July 14, starting at noon. Interested? Please email Kelly Bauman to sign up, as lunch is included.

Ever considered Saturdays?
We are experiencing a season of growth as a church! And we know that we all want to continue welcoming and discipling new folks. For that reason, we will launch a fourth worship service beginning September 7. We will have two Saturday worship services, at 4 and 5:30 pm. If you’ve never experienced a Saturday service before, pick a few weekends this summer to check it out. You might find you love it! Questions about our fourth service? Email Jonathan Haage.

Please pray for FCA Camp
FCA Camp on July 15-18 is four days of high-impact for kids and students in 4th-7th grade to learn about Jesus through various sports activities. We often have a lot of Five Oaks families involved, but we also see lots of kids from the community join us that week. Will you commit to praying for the hearts of our campers that week? Join us in praying that kids will see how much God loves them and how they can be on mission for him even while training and competing in their favorite athletic activities.

Restock the shelves at a local food shelf
For over 30 years, Friends in Need Food Shelf has been serving our neighbors in St Paul Park and the surrounding community with much-needed food and other household supplies. Demand is high, and they are in regular need of supplies to keep their shelves stocked. It’s super easy to help. Just use this Amazon wishlist to purchase and ship the most needed supplies directly to them. More info on the Friends in Need Food Shelf can be found here.

Can you drive a bus or van?
Hope Academy is looking for bus and van drivers to support its extracurricular activities. This is an ongoing need for the school, with no set dates and times for the upcoming fall. If you are interested, they can add your name to a list of volunteer drivers and reach out as needs are identified. Please email alicynbolland@hopeschool.org if you want to learn more!
