Weekend of September 14+15

TWO STEPS TO MEMBERSHIP

Membership is important at Five Oaks. It’s a way of saying, “I want to be part of the mission of this local church.” If you have a personal relationship with Christ and you have completed the Story of God class, we would love to have you join us for our membership class on Sunday, September 22 at 9 am. Details and registration here. If you’re interested in membership but have not yet taken Story of God, we have several classes starting this fall. You can get details and register at www.storyofgod.church. Questions? Email Kelsey Vang.

Interested in family dedication, baptism, or communion?
Are you the parent of a young child and interested in participating in our Family Dedications? Or are you the parent of a child or student who has questions about baptism? Join us on September 29 at 9 am for our Dedication Class for parents and at 10:45 am for our Baptism and Communion Class for kids, students, and parents. Our next Faith Milestone Celebration, where we have Dedications and Baptisms, will be the weekend of October 26/27. Questions? Email Kelly Bauman.

Men, join us for our fall video study of Romans
Our men’s ministry, called Journeymen, is offering two different meeting times this fall: Saturdays, 7 am at Five Oaks, starting September 21, and Wednesdays, 6:15 pm at East Ridge, starting September 25. Join either group to walk through Romans in a weekly video series. Considered by many to be one of the most important books of the Bible, this study will look at what Paul says about the gospel and its significance for Christ followers. All men are welcome! Questions? Email Matt Karasek, mathewade77@gmail.com.

Students, youth group starts next week!
All 6-12th graders, join us on September 18 for the Five Oaks Students kickoff! Middle school runs 6-8 pm and high school runs 7-9 pm. Five Oaks Students is a place for students to learn their place in God’s story by opening up God’s word and engaging in community. Each student is welcomed by leaders who create a space for fun and growth through worship, teaching, and small groups. Join us weekly and invite your friends! If you want to be on the weekly parent email, please email mwissink@fiveoakschurch.org.

Ladies, registration now open for all the fall things!
Whether it’s our brunch-style meal at TABLE, Bible studies (Wednesday mornings, and Monday and Tuesday evenings), or Connect 4, we have lots of different ways to get involved, make new connections, and grow deeper in your love for Jesus this fall. Details for all the things — and registrations — are available here.

Fun Night just for fifth graders and their friends
Fifth grade is traditionally known as the “I’ve got this” phase. Kids are growing in their independence, yet still have a lot of learning to do before they fly the nest. To help kids feel confident and ready to transition to youth group in sixth grade, we offer several fifth grade-only events each year. The first one this year is on Friday,
September 27, 6:30-8:30 pm
at Five Oaks and will include fall games and fun activities! Register here.

Join us at our Parenting Event, October 7
Raising our families well is one of our most important assignments as parents, and it’s also one that can be the most confusing. Join us for a Parenting Event that will include three different topics and speakers to choose from: College Path Guidance; Smart Money, Smart Kids; and Parenting with Intention.  October 7, 6:30-8:30 pm, snacks included. Childcare available for $5/child.Interested? Details and registration here.

Healing from betrayal trauma for women
The pain and trauma created through sexual betrayal is devastating, but healing is possible. You are not alone…being able to process your experiences in a safe, grace-filled place — and working at a pace that encourages self-discovery — will empower you to make strides in your healing and equip you to make informed decisions for your future. We have a group starting this fall. If you have experienced this type of betrayal in your relationship, consider this path of healing in your life. We know this is a sensitive journey , so we have a specific way to reach out to our women’s group leader who has experienced this journey. Email puredesirewomen@fiveoakschurch.org   and our Pure Desire leader here at Five Oaks will reach out.
